Hey there. When you first log in, your Bungie Name gets set as the profile name of the platform you logged in with. If that name hits the filter for any reason, then you get a default Redacted name instead. Sometimes the filter is overly sensitive, in your case I have no idea why it might have objected to it. But that IS what happened, so that's why you've got a default name. Unfortunately, while it's understandable that you might want to know 'why', Bungie won't go into specifics, nor make ad-hoc changes to the filter on request. Other players here may have an idea, maybe it's something in a different language, I don't know (I am not involved in content moderation itself). You can change your name via the Settings, as you've already mentioned. If you can enter a new name into the name box, this proof that you have a name change available. However if the name change does not go through, it means the name you are trying to use is also hitting the filter. The message you mention is not saying 'you can't change because you already did', it shows whether the change succeeds or fails. Trying to re-use the name that was already rejected is one example of something that will get rejected, same for using too close a variant. Note that the 'suggested names' thing does not run the names by the filter, so yes it may suggest something that won't actually get accepted. You'd have to try other things until one goes through. Whatever you try, make sure it's something you are happy to go with.
