Like genuine question. This game has a absolutely horrible pvp experience from top to bottom. Weapon balancing is so bad, matchmaking is utterly atrocious, map design took a huge step down. Nothing about this experience is enjoyable.
Crazy almost 7 years later and Bungie still hasn’t found a way to make this part of their game tolerable. It’s really sad and embarrassing.

We should honestly sign a huge petition for fixing pvp. I'm reasonably good at pvp but I'm a pve main. We never get good weapons and the Iron Banner is dawgshit. It's hard to earn xp even if your team wins. Not to mention getting the ornaments and then realizing you need synthweave templates to unlock them AGAIN?! I play this game because pve is fine but pvp shouldn't even exsist in a game like this whatsoever.

When one thing is op bingo adds another op thing to counter which then leads into another thing that counters the second op thing which then leads to bingo nerfing one of these things while the rest stay unchecked. Currently that is bubble dominating, conditional finality destroying bubble and everything else in that 7-10 meter range, and threaded specter with bombardiers being used to counter that. Bingo will then throw a dart at a wall nerfing one or two of these without addressing the other. Welcome to destiny 🥲

3 RepliesTrials and Comp cannot co exist. Either trials is the endgame pvp mode or comp is. Not to mention the problems both individually have Comp: No good weapons for pve players, no real incentive to play the mode Trials: trials has possibly the most toxic player base in destiny, the amount of gate keeping done by this community is insane. Players are actively discouraged from even trying the mode because if you can’t win matches the game give you nothing. The skill gap in trials is insane. The mode is comprised of high skilled players and a very small of amount of new players

2 RepliesEdited by FallenGaltier: 1/20/2024 12:42:51 AMPretty much just stick to quick play it's still fun and most of the time in my exp is balanced. Trials is in a bad state because of the low player count mixed with its Match Making and the rampant cheaters since they ley go the majority of their security team. Competitive just there's not enough of a player base anymore for the skill-based match making to actually provide two balanced teams most of the time.

2 RepliesEdited by DooWork96: 1/20/2024 4:16:47 AMIt’s a simple three step solution to fix PVP: 1.) Actually ban players using third party hardware devices to cheat. 2.) Remove SBMM in casual playlists 3.) how many maps we got in the last few years? Fired the security team but per Bungie “they kept the right people” 4 billion dollar company though
-
Cheats, mate! I used to be one myself. The game is flawed with them.
-
4 RepliesYou think map design bad now wait later since Bungie wants to make maps that can support both 6v6 and trials when most of them already overcrowded Sometimes I think we need to go from 6v6 to 5v5
-
Well duh, hopping into a looter shooter based pvp game where you only have 35 hours of pvp is gonna be a titillating experience. Try to farm PvE for some potent builds.
-
Sbmm brother, people thought it would save pvp and bungie that it will hold player retention. Now the population is at an all time low and cheaters are rampant.
-
8 RepliesXIM and Cronus users have taken over the crucible on console. RIP.

Bungie

I agree with all you say except weapon balancing.
-
Cheaters,non-dedicated servers, lack of foresight by the development team,Bungie executives being out of touch, toxic player base,Competitive and trials being punishing over things that are completely out of your control. The list goes,I love this game though.
-
7 RepliesCheaters (console w/- 3rd party hardware) not being banned and a low player count. In my region they are largely from the same country. And you don't need to be a genius to guess which... Getting pretty sick of it.
-
1 ReplyNo dedicated servers, thats the biggest one. Bungie saved that for their new game and hoping it’s enough to move everyone from destiny over to it. Extraction shooters are not my thing so it doesn’t matter how perfect that game is gonna be

Marathon hype.

6 RepliesEdited by Duke: 1/17/2024 5:23:23 PM-Low player count. --blam!- playlist system/options. (Edit: apparently we can't say h(u)rrendous, lmao) -Peer to Peer connections. -Cheaters. -Lack of loot incentive, cosmetic or otherwise. Those are the big five for me, with the top one coming from the other four and exacerbating every issue. Second edit: You have to be braindead to think the pvp is bad because "pVe GaMe." Just the dumbest possible response/argument. You can absolutely have a good pvp experience while being a "pve-focused" game.
-
Because Bungie doesn't know what they're doing, and a lot of the player base doesn't understand what Destiny PvP is.

2 RepliesEdited by DarthWolfric: 1/17/2024 11:22:47 AMThe matchmaking situation may be a result of the current content plateau in Destiny and subsequent player population decline recently; further, with console and PC players being split into separate pools, PvP is not overly active. As a result, you will often match with gilded flawless tryhards who are keeping the game alive. Also, you might enjoy yourself more if you practice and abuse the meta.

Edited by Rev: 1/18/2024 9:42:25 AMTruly, every part of PvP has suffered since Beyond Light. The addition of Crossplay has only exacerbated the downsides of Peer-to-Peer connections and the laughably low server tick-rate, both of which Bungie irrationally insists upon. Subclasses and Abilities were irrefutably simpler to manage for Bungie, and more palatable for players, then the addition of Stasis completely transformed the design and balancing philosophy into one that values potency over efficacy. Light 3.0 has only emphasized the gimmicky nature of Destiny's sandbox, and now Strand is just annoying. SBMM is fundamentally incompatible with Destiny 2. Players have been able to artificially inflate their stats, hidden or otherwise, across several seasons and metas to the point it completely trivializes the point of SBMM.

Diverse and strong with unique enough characteristics to have your favorite but still effective in battle. A few outliers here and there, but the meta balance was only ever this good or better once or twice before. Gunplay is still great. Matchmaking and team balancing definitely needs work, but the game lost several hundred thousand Crucible players and it's a p2p network. There are less options. Curated win loss feels bad though. Map design is dope, but with hiccups here and there. They starting weighting long range maps for a year cause the scout pulse rifle people complained even though the game plays best on medium size maps like Jav. Now we will get 3 new medium sized maps in May.

1 ReplyEdited by NotCreative123: 1/17/2024 10:14:52 PM
Weapon balancing is so bad, matchmaking is utterly atrocious, map design took a huge step down.
How is weapon balancing bad? This is the most balanced primary weapon meta I've ever seen. "Bad Map design" would require that new maps were being released. We only have Dysjunction and the new Vex map. To be fair, players asked for bigger maps, so they got them. I suspect many of the matchmaking problems stem from Lobby Balancing, not Matchmaking. You moan a lot, but your specific complaints lack specificity
-
Because it doesn't matter what's good it only matters what's balanced.
-
It’s god awful, it makes call of duty PvP look fun, and yet I still play it.
-
Garbage team balancing, forced wins and losses, and no incentive, low playerbase.

10 RepliesPVP is so bad because Destiny is a PVE game.
