I switched to controller and pvp became easy. The aim assist is insane. If you really wanna fix controller slow down their ads aim speed or let it take longer to just ads. It's crazy because I'd get two heads on someone before they could pop one shot off at me, controllers are one of the most broken things in this game. Right now it's not balanced against MnK. You put two stacked people against each other the Controller user will win 80% of the time with the aim assist, that's not balance.
You don't have to fix their aim assist. If it were me I'd say have it to where it does a ramp up, meaning the longer you hold the joystick in one direction the faster you'll eventually move. Games like CoD, Battlefield, Fortnite all have this small mechanic to keep controllers on the same playing field as MnK. You don't need to johnson the controllers but yes they do need a fix because for me to switch to a controller and drop a few We rans when I usually don't get them doesn't make sense.

M&K is 1000x better than a controller is & ever will be.

9 RepliesAgree… yet most of the controller players on the forum straight up lie about how much aiming their device is doing for them…

6 RepliesYou clearly haven't played the latest CoD games, specifically MW2 and MW3, because both have the most brutal aim assist I've seen in a shooter. Controller players literally have magnetic bullets. While you have to calculate the weapon's recoil and track the player with the mouse, the aim assist does almost all of this for you. It's a shame. Don't expect a positive reaction to your post, rather brace yourself for the negatives. In general, console players are terrible players the moment you take away their aim assist. Have a good one, Losty.

I'm going to disagree only because this has been proved to be false in certain cases. In a video, Falloutplays, demonstrated that both MnK and Controller have the same bullet magnetism and that aim assist, only really helps with how aggressively your crosshair tracks your target. You can easily replicate controller aim assist by just being good with a mouse.

2 RepliesAnecdotal experience. Both inputs have pros and cons. If you believe you play best on one input or the other, then use it. Until I see evidence that indicates that controller input is superior to M&K input (based on win rates or other useful data), then I will remain skeptical.

Maybe you would be good if you started using controller then?

16 RepliesIts a game designed around controller play, and M/K was added after the fact when ported to PC. If its that much better on controller, all of the top players would switch to controller. Some weapons are better on controller, others on M/K. Choose whats best for you. Very fast pace playstyles are generally better on M/K. Some weapons effective range is considerably higher on M/K due to reticule friction disappearing on sticks after a certain range. The actual aim assist is the same (bullet magnetism), but the reticule friction is only on controller. That reticule friction can hurt more than help when multiple targets cross in front of where you aim, so it can work against you as well.

6 RepliesEdited by Tall: 12/1/2023 3:46:28 PMYour pvp stats say otherwise.. overall negative across the board but before your post, your ratios were actually better than the time around your post being made. Mnk and PC as a whole is far and away better than controllers and especially console. To include having higher aim assist than controller according to Christopher Barrett at Bungie. It’s crazy how “controllers are so OP” yet we keep seeing very specific nerfs to weapons only on MnK..

1 Replylol imagine moaning about controllers when you use a cheating mouse and keyboard !

3 RepliesEdited by Magiscene: 12/1/2023 4:08:56 AMI’m personally don’t see the issue. Mnk for faster reaction time and better aerial performance while controller has better aim assist and ground play. Both inputs have their pros and cons. I am a controller player (ergonomics to me feel better on controller than mnk) and have games where I get stomped on by mnk then I have games where I mop the floor with mnk players. Players will flock to what they like and feel comfortable with. Both inputs are just fine where they are at imo.

The solution you described is just look acceleration, which doesn’t affect your aim and is just supposed tk help you turn faster.

There is so much more maneuverability on MnK than a controller. I gamed for years on console and after going to PC, I never went back! I have seen a few videos of different games where a top PC player plays against a top console player. The console player would always get wiped. But, it may also be the game. For example: Halo is very slow paced. I just started playing the MCC and console players seem to still dominate those games like they did years ago. Aside from any of this, it can also just be a persons personal preference. A controller is alot easier to grab and understand the buttons quickly compared to MnK. Playing on a controller is also more comfortable then playing on MnK. Not too many seating positions when using MnK lol!

11 Repliesstop it. I switched to mnk recently and am better than I ever was on controller after thousands of hours of controller play. You have a skill issue.

Edited by Rams: 11/30/2023 3:45:30 PMControllers have a lower skill floor and a lower skill ceiling. While kb/m has a much higher skill floor and also a much higher skill ceiling. Controller is easier to use, not necessarily better. Why on earth would your suggestions to nerf controller be to make them aim in slower, that’s a -blam!- suggestion and is not fair at all. That wouldn’t balance them, it would make kb/m flat out the better choice. Your suggestion to lower their aim speed is also stupid, increasing aim speed makes aim assist work LESS. Even without aim assist higher sensitivity is harder to use, now add in aim assist and it makes running a lower sense much, MUCH easier. Edit: 2 of the games you mentioned as games that do controller aim assist right, COD and Fortnite, are known for having aim assist that is much too strong, the only reason why more people don’t use controller in fortnite is due to the building.
Games like CoD, Battlefield, Fortnite all have this small mechanic to keep controllers on the same playing field as MnK.
Then go play those games ?? Destiny 2 is a pve game genius ... What is it with crucible people always complaining about crucible ? First it is the OP titan , then the meta guns , then the abilities , then this and that and now it is controller aim assist ?? 🤣🤣🤣 If you really think console is so OP then go play it , it will not take long untill you get matched with people on your own level and if you get owned by pc players while you are on console with your so-called OP aim assist then you would complain that pc is unfair , maybe has cheats , wallhacks or whatever ... It never ends my guy , just play the game on what platform you like and use your skills , stop crying .

I have been playing MnK for decades as my first FPS experiences were on PC (Wolfenstein/Doom, Half-Life Counterstrike, etc), and controller just feels wrong to me. Gave it a chance recently but still felt clunky. With practice I am sure that I could be better, but at this point in my life I am too used to MnK that it feels right. However I do question why if Controllers are so strong, that there are 3rd party illegal mods to use MnK on Console? Perhaps my understanding is limited of the issue, but does not make much sense to me if the opposite is true.

Destiny is a console game, PC is lucky to be invited , don't start making demands when you brought paid 3rd party hacks into this club , when before the only thing we had to worry about was lag switchers -
It's not controller aim assist you struggle with.. mnk vs controller, mnk is superior.. You are struggling with controller aim assist on mnk. That is a completely different thing.. that is cheating.. that has been around for 9 years and now it's a problem because it's on PC?

7 RepliesI find it hilarious how some of the people literally post NOTHING but “nerf controller” because they are just that trash. This has been debunked so many times over the years
-
2 RepliesSkill issue

2 RepliesI play both inputs and they both have benefits. Reticle stickiness of controller versus more accuracy on MnK. People who moan are bad and looking to justify their skill by putting down others. Get good and play instead of complaining.

BuT shotgun is stronger on mNk , so having easy mode on all primary + snipers is normal

95 RepliesThe thing is controller players don't realize how much aa controller has. Since they have never played without it. Along with all the devs are 0.5kd controller players.

8 RepliesOr, just separate controller and MnK players...Oh wait, you have to have enjoyable PvP with a large player base to do that. Oops.
