Should bungie cut back on seasonal Eververse items if they lack the resources and money to make maps and update in-game content?

Each season, Eververse typically gets updated with 5-6 ship, sparrow, and ghost sets. 1-2 legendary armor ornaments, 3-5 shaders, 3-5 finishers, 5-8 exotic weapon ornaments, 6 exotic armor ornaments, 3-6 transmats, 15-18 emotes, 4-6 ghost projections and finally 3 legendary armor ornaments inspired by exotic armor. So, in other words, about 65+ items are added to Eververse, and that's not even counting seasonal event items like event cards. I'm willing to bet bungie easily has a few dozen to several hundred employees focused purely on developing Eververse items. This would be enough to generate 1 new crucible, gambit, and strike/mission map every season. This reminds me when Curse of Osiris came out and the community called out bungie for adding roughly 100 new items, but 80 of those were Eververse items I suppose you could argue that Eververse is bungies money maker, however the bulk of the community typically uses bright dust and about half the items no one buys like ghost projections. Then there is the fact that the cosmetic section has become so bloated, that a lot of people, myself included, have just started passing on items just because we have so many items unlocked that we don't even use. Personally, I feel that bungie should cut down the amount of cosmetic items per season and per year, and then put those freed up resources to good use elsewhere in the game. For example: instead of giving us 1-2 meh legendary armor ornaments every season, maybe release 1 kick @$$ ornament set every year or maybe twice a year. Instead of throwing out a bunch of garbage ghost, ships, sparrows, half of which don't even match the theme of the season, why not just release 1-2 sets that actually match the seasonal theme. Emotes are probably the most expensive to produce, since I believe they use motion capture, so again, why not cut that in half. Then you have transmats and ghost projections, which probably 90% of the community doesn't care for, so you could honestly probably just release 1 annual set based off the themes for the upcoming seasons. (This would give the community something to speculate over as well) These are just my thoughts.

  • Bungie: People aren't using the new ritual armor so we're cutting back on them Also Bungie: makes terrible looking ritual armor to entice players to buy the Eververse armor sets

    • They should. I used to buy $10-20 worth of silver during seasons I enjoyed. It was my way to "tip" Bungie for a job well done. The last time I did this was when Witch Queen launched. However, the last 3 seasons of WQ had increasing amounts of server issues and game breaking bugs... which worsened this year. Lightfall was disappointing. My Lightfall purchase has not been worth the money I paid for it, so I won't be purchasing any silver this year. If Bungie would invest in D2 rather than treat it like a Marathon fundraiser, I would enjoy it enough to start tipping again.

    • IF they cannot keep the promises made for updates to ingame items due to the resources being utilized for other purposes that are for purchaseable items, then absolutely they need to take those resources and allocate them to the promise, not wait months and months before telling us with one season left in the DLC they will not be fulfilling the promise because they don't want to make armour for free.

    • Facts, too much of their "resources" is put into eververse instead of actual content for the game. The in game store isn't for funding content, it's for funding more store items.

    • I would never even think about buying anything cosmetic for real money. I paid (well used to pay) for a game to play where I could earn loot, not buy fancy costumes that have absolutely no bearing or advantages on the game itself. I've bought skins for weapons in the past, but only with bright dust. This is futile too as the so called new weapons introduced are only re skins anyway. If all those vain players who think looking pretty is important, would stop using silver in Eververse, maybe more time and resources would be spent creating more much needed content.

      • Better idea. If Bungie can’t spend development time on items with low adoption rates, let’s stop buying EV stuff. Then Bungie will have to cancel EV, right? Lol

        • With all due respect, this is a silly question. Bungie will never stop creating items that generate income, to make content that will be free. Bungie is leaning towards being more greedy, not less greedy.

        • I said it when Everpurse first was implemented that it was going to turn out this way…. The attacks I received from the BDF were insane….. I hate to be right right because the only winner in this situation is Bungie’s pockets

        • I think bungie should cut back on working on Marathon/Matter and put more time into d2’s last dlc and over-deliver it to draw the players back. Making the best of games can result of having more players playing their games in a long run and not turn the players off. This should include reduce to having many microtransactions .

        • Eververse in my opinion should of never expanded to what it is now, and it will only get worse even more.

          • I think they need to stop with the "Seasonal Activity". Those take up a lot of space and effort, yet most people don't play them. Also, they are only relevant for a very short period of time. Instead, give us new maps (not modes), MAPS.

              • Maybe...but gotta remember that ever verse makes money for them which in turn helps pay for more resources to make things. It's an ugly balance to maintain and I don't know the specifics at bungie, but what would NOT want is for there to be fewer resources at bungie to go around. I'm all for whatever gets us more content. Eververse is not my favorite part of the game by any stretch, but if that's paying for the things I DO care about, then I can understand it at least

                  • Nah they can keep doing what they're doing, I think they should expand the store. Don't even make the half a$$ overused content. It's about time we drop the expectations and lower the play time to (none). All this? They love when we complain caus we 'care'

                  • They don't lack resources, they have reallocated them to Marathon. There's a reason most of the Sony money went into bonuses and not into Destiny. Sony bought Bungle for Marathon, not Destiny. The bonuses were to keep the people working on Marathon from leaving.

                    • I’ve never bought an armor set or ghosts from eververse for silver. It’s only in rare circumstances that I see something really cool that I got it for silver. Can safely say I haven’t bought anything from the cash cow in over a year and it’s gonna stay that way.

                    • I just think the annual dlcs should add to the game as a whole, like they used to. Strikes, crucible maps etc. I mean look at the last few we've had, even Witch Queen, they brought a campaign, a couple of exotics and the equivalent of a seasonal activity. That's not that much different than a $10 season, yet costs 7x that. And yeah, we get a destination, but once the campaigns done why would you go back?

                    • It’s pretty clear where they want to put their resources. And it’s not anywhere to help the general feel of the game or the player base. At a certain point I felt like I was getting ripped off. There is better games out there like borderlands, Diablo, Elden Ring or Warframe. I like Destiny but every time I come back I just get a bad feeling….

                    • Yea, the problem isn’t that they don’t have enough resources, it’s that they don’t use it on actual content, just stupid projections and ugly armor ornaments. I love fashion souls, but that’s only if it’s actually good, and though it’s entirely subjective, they haven’t released any good ornaments either. And if they don’t release good paid content, then there is no longer anything good that they produce.
