It seems like Twitter is going down the drain both as a company and a tool or resource for sharing information. The API has been shut off for most third-party apps and tools, we can't even see Destiny tweets in Discord or Slack anymore.
Mastodon's been around for years and has emerged as a great alternative. It isn't at the mercy of a nutjob billionaire, and the community is growing rapidly. Medium just launched a Mastodon server, while Mozilla, Tumblr, and WordPress/Automattic are all about to join soon.
I hope Bungie can consider opening one or more Mastodon accounts to stay in touch with its community.

Yes please. I hate twitter. Mastodon looks promising.

Yes please! I also appreciate the way mastodon accounts are automatically RSS feeds. So people can follow stuff like this with a feed reader even if they don’t have a mastodon account. And from a brand perspective, having your own instance would simplify the official or not question. I hope y’all think about it!

1 ReplyI was a bit heartbroken when the D2Teams accounts were announced and mastodon wasn't included as a platform. As of right now, Destiny is the only reason I still have my twitter account active, so I can get official tweets on notification. The community over there is pretty great!

1 ReplyYes please Bungie! With Twitter disabling my 2FA, I’m closing my account. While the bots and unofficial accounts do a great job (thank you), it would be great if there was an official account.

1 ReplyGiving this suggestion my upvote! Right now I keep on top of what Bungie is up to by following an account on Mastodon that auto-reposts whatever Bungie posts to Twitter, but the formatting kinda gets mangled by that bot. The most important things get reposted to Reddit as well, so I can read them there, but that's a human process.

Seconded - Mastodon is on the up, it is interoperable and Bungie could run its own instance if appropriate. Any game studio that shows Mastodon is viable will be an example to others! And while I understand that operating any social media accounts takes time and manpower, initial use of Mastodon can be lighter than historical use of Twitter (for example only doing the @BungieHelp announcements but not the interactivity of @Destiny2Team, etc etc).

This would be a great move for Bungie
