Infinite loading screen FIX
Here's the fix that worked for me:
- Open windows > settings > App Volume and Device
Preferences
- Make sure steam is set to Default
- Launch Destiny
- Navigate back to your App volume and device
preferences
- Set Destiny to Default
- Force quit Destiny via task manager
- (I deleted my cars. xml here, this may or may not be required)
I tried everything to no avail before I found this fix. Wasn’t me that found it so can’t take the credit! Please share this as I was stuck for 3 days. Uninstalled twice, rolled back drivers and nothing.

I just found this and saw a comment about HDMI Audio being the cause. In this case it was for me. If you just started Destiny 2 or got a new setup and have a monitor connected with HDMI cord. disable the HDMI audio in your sound mixer / settings.

As of September 4th 2025 this fix still works. Just happened to my girlfriend and we were able to fix it with this post, she also had uninstalled and reinstalled and did driver things. Thank you for the post!!

Does work once and then its back to loading screen for ever... bungie should be ashamed to have this stupid bug for this long and still charges money for their game. THE ONLY constant fix for me is to use a VPN, its absolutly stupid but it works somehow

What a God send. Spent 4 hrs trying to figure this out. Uninstall and everything you can imagine. Still works on 12/4/24. Just upgraded to a Odyssey g9 and everything else loaded except this game! Thank you!

You're an Absolute Legend, it resolved my problem today as I changed hardware stuff of my pc, that caused some sound applications settings to be blank and not as default. Thank you very much

As of May 26th 2024 this worked for me. Thank you so much! The weird thing was all I did was turn off my PC to clean it out with air in a can and when I booted back up I had this weird issue.

This happened to me after i updated my bios. weird bug. Just done the audio stuff and back to normal.
