I heard about the Vexcaliber quest. Reached out to my clan with "let's do this tonight!"
Clan leader responded with the minimum power level required... and I would have to do some serious grinding in old playlists to reach that minimum power... of which you will then decrease once I'm in the activity.
This killed any desire to play the game...much less the mission I originally wanted to do.
By the time you finish the game (at normal difficulty) and are current in the seasonal story, you should be the minimum power level for any content currently in the game. Players should not have to grab bounties everyday and grind in the playlists just so they can participate in an activity.

3 RepliesIt's a brand new season guy. It's expected that you put in some time into getting to the powerful cap. It's really not that hard. It's the same thing year after year nothing has changed since the Taken King.
-
9 RepliesThey said next season they are removing the light grind, so there's that light at the end of the tunnel. We'll see though. I wouldn't be shocked to see them add another hamster wheel instead.
-
They’ve effectively made light level pointless. It’s just a way for them to increase your playtime. But you’re right. If power isn’t going to matter anyways then no point in grinding it
-
1 Reply
Why do I have to reach minimum power level if you are going to handicap anyway?
It's called content gating. Bungie does that because the season lasts for three months and they use all the schemes and tricks they can to extend the content for that time period. The power level means absolutely nothing in this game, zero. You're not more powerful and you have that power climb reset after three months. I agree that if we are being handicapped the activity should be available to play immediately after ending the campaign. The game should automatically upgrade our overall power to the level needed to play any activity.

1 ReplyEdited by Divine_Majin93: 3/12/2023 8:21:42 PMTo extend playtime in a cheap way by forcing players to chase an arbitrary number rather than create meaningful and engaging content that makes players keep coming back

Especially now, power grind is pointless

3 RepliesIt's called "content" Apparently 🙄

Why even have power level now if we are all set the same for mist content? If they can auto nerf us moreorless then light level is 100% dead and over

Plus I have a rough idea which youtuber gave Bungie the idea that Caping someone's level when something is 1830 is a good idea... He's not as popular as he used to be but he always gave money that stupid idea ever since escalation protocol 2017 and he's a very toxic YouTuber by the way as well. Basically he has a history with being extremely hostile and threatening towards if someone says something he doesn't like..

Because without the power grind, it would become more obvious to how little content we are actually getting -

2 RepliesTHIS 👆🏻 It’s so damn pointless, it’s an arbitrary number now more than it was before. Much like the artifact, it just keeps going up when it does absolutely nothing beneficial.

Grinding power level = content. At least as far as Bungie seem to be concerned. Regarding the Vexcalibur mission. I got maybe half of the way through playing solo. I was around 1770 but the mission raised that to 1790. I gave up on it at the point where I needed to kill a bunch of Vex to collect data within a time limit and drop into a hole to take shelter. -
6 RepliesAs far as I can see the normal version of the mission works like any other mission and has a "recommended" power level. If you are at level or above it should be no issue at all and is easy to solo (I do not say solo flawless since every attempt I had ended in misery due to platforming woes). The legend version has a fixed power level of 1830. What this means is when you hit 1830 you do not gain any power advantages over the enemies but at the same time they do not have any advantage over you. Again I pretty much soloed most of the legend with two lfg players and then had to solo the boss after they dipped. As others have said if your clan does not want to help you and tries to discourage you from pursuing content then I would recommend leaving and finding a new clan.

Edited by Ketogenic_Guardian: 3/13/2023 5:12:29 AMMy thought exactly what's the point of leveling when past a certain number if they're just going to cap us regardless. Like what's the point of going past let's say 1815 if they're just going to cap you at 1815 in 1830 content...

They are trying to stretch out the limited content they have by adding filler. That's all that levelling up is. It's a complete waste of time.

1 ReplyEdited by Ghost Ryder: 3/12/2023 11:40:26 PMGood question, Think of it like Las Vegas the Casino have no windows, or clocks so you have no track of time. They give cheap beer and free alcohol to keep you playing to lose money. They comp you to come back with gifts and rooms to lose just as much time and money when you return. Just replace Casino with Lightfall, and swap cheap beer with craftable weapons. Lastly, you can replace free alcohol with Harder content same junk rewards, heroic mission no heroic loot. After you wash rinse and repeat this 100 times in two months we will sell you another expansion to come back next season, but all the work you put in we flush it.

Because -blam!- power fantasy, that's why.

I started Vexcaliber solo and got past the first section, then I jumped to what looked like a ledge, but it was a hole so I was supposed to do the whole thing again! Nope. Looked up a video on it and later on it’s a timed section taken from D1. I refuse to play timed content that was miserable the first time.

12 RepliesEdited by TheShadow: 3/13/2023 5:06:14 PMThe longer you people play and the more you post about all the crap this business has done with this expansion. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on this disaster. Oh, can't wait for the fans to praise this business for the umpteenth time for adjusting things that were a deliberate poor decision🤦♂️

Yeah, our power level is obviously going ro be phased out or altered due to feedback from the community on the pinnacle grind etc. We are in the unfortunate position currently whereby changes are happening to accommodate this eventual new system so you have competing systems undermining each other at the moment.
-
You make a good point. IF we are to be handicapped, why did I need to grind up to a specific level of power? There is the case for understanding the game, mechanics and it might take you some time to get to a point where you should be doing the end game however, bungie has muddled up the power grind for a few years and at this point, power grind could be replaced by - owned expansion and completed intruductory mission(s). You may not have the best weapons, loadout etc but, you could participate and for a compnay as hell bent on inclusivity and participation as bungie has been... you would think they would treat their own players the same way.. ensuring their inclusivity and participation in their game.
By the time you finish the game (at normal difficulty) and are current in the seasonal story, you should be the minimum power level for any content currently in the game.
Wrong. You are playing the wrong game if you think this is how it should function. To say that you should be at level for all content, which includes end game content, after completing just a normal campaign and the current seasonal story, is just bad game design.
-
I was going to agree with your post until I read this:
By the time you finish the game (at normal difficulty) and are current in the seasonal story, you should be the minimum power level for any content currently in the game.
No. I think a better level would be the Powerful Cap of 1800, this is pretty easy to get to and at least requires some level of "playing the game" before jumping into some of the harder content in the game. I would have maybe said completing the Legendary Campaign, but even then, 1770 is still a pretty low bar. In any case, most players will hit the minimum level requirements within another week, not really a huge issue.

I did it at level 1750. If you can get to the boss, equip wish ender and your life will be so much easier.
