So i just finished watching the entire raid and here is my thoughts
The Good
1. Well designed Raid the atmosphere really encapulates light vs dark type of vibe
2. The mechanics appear to be straight forward no having to memorize 26 symbols and think more than you are having fun
3. lots of Enemy density from what i seen
4. Tormentors new enemy type are in this raid which is cool
5. Last Boss looks very unique and is not a reskin finally
The Bad
1. Raid seems to be a bit short took only 2.5 hrs to complete
2. Only 2 Bosses once again feels more like a Raid Lair that is just a little bit longer
3. 1st boss looks like another Cabal Reskin boss not original at all
4. Raid has alot of traversal this might scare people who are not good at jumping puzzles
The Ugly
1. The Raid quality does not seem to get any better 2 bosses and thats it 1 of them looking like a reskin
2. Bungie is sold on putting champions in raids now to increase difficulty that dont seem like is going to change so bring proper load out
3. Raids just dont feel epic like they used to. Last Wish and Kings Fall feel like what a raid is suppose to be like in bosses and size. We have not seen raids like that since split with activistion. Bungie raids feel more like a raid lair with an extra boss fight.
This is my take on it your take will be different or you might agree with some things here

Edited by RedAlertSteve: 3/13/2023 1:13:56 AMEvery raid we ever had has a reskined boss besides last wish and vow

7 RepliesThe only thing i disagree here is people boasting * Oh 2 hours...rah rah rah rah*, dude these guys are experienced players, insert here all famous streamers, some are carried of course, but the point is, most of the community will not be able to do it in less than 3, some clan members took 5, TO EACH HIS OWN, other example is Duality solo, i see people boasting that was easy, i just can't do it...the moment i go to nightmare i get shot so much i ended up dying...and its all good, so just because experienced players did in 2 hours and a half, it doesnt mean everybody will do it.

Uhh good no.5.? Not a reskin? Nezarec is essentially a tormentor in a red onesie with fairy wings and a bigger weapon.

2 RepliesEdited by SuperTony: 3/11/2023 10:14:54 PM"Only 2 raid bosses" Is that a joke? Do you expect every encounter to have a boss? 2 is the magic number. "Reskinned boss" You're not fooling anyone.

Edited by michael: 3/11/2023 11:06:56 PMThe raid is fun but I cant help but find it absolutely jarring how easy it is relative to other raids. It was a complete change of pace in terms of mechanic difficulty compared to what we are used to with d2. I dont necessarily think it is a bad thing but it is definitely a thing. In terms of boss design, atmosphere etc I thought it was fairly week. We already did a raid in a pyramid with vow and I thought they nailed the environment there a lot better. The explicator is a reskinned cabal guy which is always just annoying in raids and obviously nezarec was a unique model but really just looked like a fat tormentor. Didnt fit AT ALL with his title of "THE BIG BAD FINAL GOD OF PAIN" and his intimidating voice and writing. I just wish raids were more adventurous. Raids like kings fall and last wish really felt like we were on a mission to do something important, with huge scale spectacle environments and enemies that felt more serious and intimidating. Root is kind of the culmination of how raids have become siginificantly shorter with less of everything i just described. Little side note, Nezarec's erratic movement throughout the final encounter feels sloppy. I think they tried to learn from their success with Rhulk being a boss who runs around and threatens you, but Rhulk has very clean, clearly telegraphed, predictable moves. Nezarec does not, especially during damage. Im almost glad he has enough health to kill him with a flick of the nose on contest because dealing with a tight damage check while hes jumping and flying around, teleporting, and disappearing would be incredibly frustrating.

1 ReplyNot a fan of any of the armour sets or the weapons, I'll 100% be skipping this Raid.....
-
The armour is HIDEOUS. Who is handling the raid gear? What drugs are they taking?
-
3 RepliesI have a feeling they make the raids easier so to speak so they can get more players, more players means more popularity and money, more money means they are pleasing sony. I apologize if that made no sense.
-
Have you completed it?
-
2 RepliesJust made a video last night to show this bug. It drops my light lvl from 1810 to 1585 as soon as i enter the raid and I can’t damage anything. https://youtu.be/qwEjndXlcVc

12 RepliesSo you finished "watching" it and now you know what's what??
Armchair expert🙄
2 RepliesEdited by Ryan Foxling: 3/11/2023 6:19:35 AMThey tried to make a fast paced raid with simple mechanics and bosses without too much health, unsurprisingly it made this raid the easiest day 1 raid since Scourge of the past. I'd rather take that than long and boring raid, because every raid is very easy in regular mode. But day 1 experience was kinda disappointing

4 RepliesGreat dungeon. Can't wait to see how long it will take to finish once contest mode is over. Hardcore players wanted harder content, so Bungie instead of giving it to them by buffing raids and GMs, they made raids easier and GMs left the same, then buffed patrols, missions and legend stuff for regular players that never asked for it. Bonkers...

1 ReplyThe raid itself is awesome. The rewards... Are just subpar anything. Aside from their origin traits...
-
Wasn't short per say. Raid mechanic concepts leaked before hand so people knew what to do more or less. I really liked Vow, didn't care for the loot however. Taniks being a raid boss was hilarious
-
3 RepliesI disagree with part of your third point of the ugly, VotD was awesome and rhulk was unique and felt grand
-
The raid isn’t short, it’s just really easy.
-
1 ReplyI think everything about the raid is fine. I think Ill enjoy it better then Vow due to art style
-
9 RepliesHard disagree on ugly #3. Rhulk is by far the best raid encounter Bungie's ever created.
-
Agreed. Beautiful scenery but the experience felt a bit lackluster
-
I’m not much of a raider but man… the raid exotic looks sweet
