Im a divorced dad and my son comes every other weekend to live with me for 3 days and he brings his ps5 with him. When he plays at my place he has a different ip adres. Can this be seen as a account recovery by bungie and result in a ban? Its his own ps5 and has the same hardware id so my guess is that its no problem but would like to be sure. Thnx for taking the time to read this and maybe reply.

13 RepliesHello there, Short answer is no. Bungie uses more than just an ip address to confirm if a recovery has taken place. For example, my IP can change several times in a day depending on If I am at work which I use a VPN for or my normal network, and that is provided I do not cycle my modem which gives me yet another Ip address. Let alone if I travel, taking a console or laptop would not be unheard of. So in short, your son playing at your house would be fine.

2 RepliesIt shouldn't be a problem unless someone gets really really lazy in swinging the ban hammer. If they're bringing their own PS5, there's always the device ID that should register it as the same console connecting from different places. My guess is that the system flags accounts when the same device starts connecting to multiple accounts. I'm sure there's more complex behavioral tracking at that point to identify what's recovery activity and what could just be is a communal device like a system at a gaming cafe or something.

2 RepliesYou will be fine, unless your son suddenly becomes a 3.0 KD player in trials of Osiris. Bungie can definitely tell when a player’s skill level is abnormal.
