Assuming they want to be serious about the game.
Bungie is fine with vaulting content but they still want that cash. Assuming you want access to everything that impacts gameplay for the next year of play you need -
Base game- Free!
Forsaken pack- $19.99
Shadow keep- $24.99
Beyond light- $29.99
30th anniversary + Witch Queen Deluxe- $99.99
Total- $174.99
*Edit- $159.98 if you buy the legacy edition
I know for those of you that have been playing this whole time it doesn't seem like much, but for new players that's a pretty daunting prospect. I personally have been playing on and off since launch and I only bring this up because I've been trying to get some friends to play Witch Queen with me. That price tag is a pretty hard sell. It's off-putting for most.
I like this game. I want to see it grow and be healthy. I think it's time to start adding some older content to the free to play portion of the game. There's still plenty of money in Eververse, especially if you have more new players.
Edit- You guys really seem to think people are going to be willing pay 160 bucks for this game because YOU have gotten your money's worth. I'm telling you that price tag is a major turn off for most people. Telling people "Oh, really you only need to spend 80 bucks right now. Sure, you'll be locked out of a bunch of content but you can still play" isn't a selling point either.

played for a little bit earlier after being away for a year(?) i have NO idea what's going on or how to level up.

15 RepliesThen don't play it if you feel it's to expensive. But the money for a years worth of gametime is cheaper than almost any other game out there.
-
1 ReplyIt's also very unfriendly to new players and even returning players. It's why I don't recommend the game to any new gamers I meet.
-
I mean you don’t have to purchase any of that. New players can start fresh with just purchasing the witch queen deluxe pack where you get all the seasons and dungeons included for only 80$. Thats the same as buying a new game. Only really small minded individuals will actually purchase forsaken when everyone knows its going away in like 3-4 weeks.

2 RepliesGaming is an expensive hobby.. in the short term. But games like destiny 2 have a high replay-ability. So long term, if you put in enough hours, it pays for itself at the end. But if you can’t afford the initial cost, then yes. Destiny 2 is too expensive for you. But honestly, if you play any other games. You’re putting down $60-$70 for 25-30 hours of game time with very little replay-ability. So you will end up paying more to keep the gaming hobby.

3 RepliesEdited by Smough: 1/30/2022 10:18:23 PMI’d imagine any game is expensive if it’s been getting dlc releases for 5 years and you try to buy every dlc at once.
-
9 RepliesThat’s a -blam!--ton of content. I’ll gladly pay $100 for a year of gaming. The problem is it’s delivery and the fact that a new player needs an experienced player to guide them through it.
-
25 RepliesExcept new players only need to buy witch queen.
-
1 ReplyJust be happy that you didn't pay $3.6 billion like Sony did...lol
-
Absolutely. A new dlc should include and give you acces to everything in the game up until that point.
-
You can buy the earlier expansion in one bundle so it will be €60+€89 that if you like Destiny could mean worth thousand hours of content.
-
5 RepliesDo you know how much a new NES game was back in the day? About $50-$60. Adjusted for inflation, about $175. The problem isn't the cost it is we have been spoiled with $60 games for 30+ years.
-
27 Repliespretty cheap if you have a job lol
-
1 ReplyDestiny is a half formed cluster -blam!- for new players.
-
1 ReplyWell it's cheaper than the previous content was at launch, so what more do they want...
-
If you enjoy it, just get it. I tested it out first when stepping back in, was so much better game than when I dropped out, waited for discount on PSN store, easy saving, lots for me to catch up on. I agree it's a tad steep at full price. So is Sierra Nevada so that's why I get them on multi-buy deal! 🍻 Best of luck with the path you choose!

1 ReplyEdited by Deus: 1/31/2022 6:29:04 PMJust go F2P until they crawl back to XBOX GamePass 🤔 Narrator: Sony bought Bungie…
-
4 RepliesU know what sucks? I bought everything on xbox and then I switched to steam, and now I have to buy the things that I already have all over again
-
5 RepliesBungie should just release a complete edition every expansion that includes everything plus the new expansion Would be more organized , streamline and cheaper
-
12 RepliesBase Game Free Legacy collection £49.99 $67.17 60.13 euro Witch Queen Deluxe Edition + Anniversary £87.99 £87.99 + £49.99 = £137.98 $185.38 165.97 Euro How much is 1 night out for 2 meals and drinks? How much is that designer shirt? Destiny 2 is and has always been great value for money, and this bundle is even better value for new players.
-
1 ReplyThey dont need to buy everything up front lol, WQ and seasons will probably keep them going for at least 6 months before they have enough spare time to start trying to nab good gear/exotics from the legacy content.
-
4 RepliesIdk , I created an account on my wife’s Xbox and have everything except seasons. I thought you had to purchase all expansions individually?

....yhea lets ignore the fact that adding back all the cut content will just make a bloated download files that will run terribly.....something they have to say every time they removing something You are complaining about having to buy the DLC for a game that's 5 year old and have content every year.... Gaming is pricey....you don't have to buy everything in 1 go.... Also forsaken is currently free ...and will be removed so....
-
4 Replies$159 for all of that doesn't really sound that bad at all.
-
10 Replies$175 for 4 years of content isn’t bad at all. Tbh that’s a steal. If you go to the movies once a month for 4 years your paying around $1000 for it. (If it costs you $20 each time. That number will change based on many factors. Personally if I got to the movie it’s gonna be a good bit more than $20 each time)
