Still can't get the
This quest is still glitched for me... Its been broken since last season. I now have legacy quests from 2 seasons ago and last season both stuck on "Get the 'Decrypting the Darkness' quest from the Umbral Decoder", but every time I go there nothing even shows up. I've decrypted a couple umbral engrams already and they aren't progressing anything since I can't even get the quest to show up in the first place.
What should I do? None of the fixes I've found are working for me cause literally nothing is showing up.
Edit: Issue has been fixed. Seems Bungie has pushed out a bug fix. Just got all of my decrypting the darkness quests.

1 ReplySame thing happening to me. I havnt played since season of the Dawn (9) and to come back to some thing quite game breaking is very disappointing.

Same issue I have all the seasons pass I did voyage it skipped stage 3 guess because I did it on my main and and I got the splicer gauntlet and ran battlegrounds and I go to decrypt a engram it says nothing.

Same thing. This issue is making its rounds, but I have yet to see bungie supply a working fix for this. Hopefully they can just patch it, we probably don't need an umbral tutorial at this point.

A lot of pleople starting to have this problem. Including me yesterday. Some say you have to delete space for a new emblem to progress, some say you have to simply decrypt an world drop umbral or focused umbral to progress. Some say that you have to finish a splicer quest to progress. I also have a legacy splicer quest that can be progressed when lost city override will be up (who knows when that will be). Some say that you have to finish a splicer quest on europa on some left-hand side, but that I don't have there. As my decoder now shows up as battlegrounds icon, then maybe I have to get an umbral exactly from the nessus battlegrounds, but that is just a thought. Loosing my mind. Nothing helps. Bungie, what to do? :(

Also have the same problem, can access it on my hunter but cannot use it on my warlock that i have made in the last week of season 14. when i interact with it just says "Sorry, there are no items available here, check back in the future" although i have umbral engrams.

Also having this problem on my second character. Every fix I have tried and none have worked. I have two quests (bg & splicer) locked here and my second quest from current season was but I abandoned thinking it was like the other problem with that chain and I can’t pick it back up now. Fun!

I'm also having this issue. Both Splicer and Battleground quests are stuck at the Decrypting the Darkness quest on my alts and nothing I do can progress the quests. My main can do things perfectly fine and I have completed the Season of the Lost quest for the week on both my Warlock[main] and Hunter[alt] and still can't do anything. It's really frustrating since I have a couple of engrams on my Hunter and I used four trying out various fixes that apparently worked for others to no avail.

I have the same issue. Didn't play Season of the Chosen or Splicer. Thinking I would try to power-level, I started with an alt character. This character completed the Decrypting the Darkness quest and now has access to Recasting. About this time I realized that I don't have the time to power-level, so I switch to my main character. Main character is unable to get the Decrypting the Darkness quest and now all three season pursuits are stuck at "Decrypting the Darkness completed": "Legacy: Challenger's Proving", "Legacy: Path of the Splicer I", and "Wayfinder's Voyage I". No quest is offered at the Umbral Decoder. I've tried decrypting an Umbral Engram to no avail. Someone in another thread suggested abandoning the "Wayfinder's Voyage 1" quest and re-pick it back up. However, after abandoning the quest, It does not appear anywhere (Not at compass, not at Quest Archive Terminal, not in my Quests tab) I tried starting up my third character, but this character is also stuck.

Edited by Sarahvel: 8/26/2021 6:52:59 PMI have the exact same issue. Have prismatic recaster unlocked on my main but can't unlock it on my 2 other characters because "decrypting the darkness" quest needs to be completed but I don't have the quest. It's also not in my quest kiosk.

19 RepliesDo you have any unclaimed quests sitting in the Wayfinder's Compass inventory in the HELM? Do you have any quests in your active inventory called The Plan or Bridge Between Worlds?

Same for me. Only played on my Hunter and Warlock during the past 2 seasons. Decided to play Titan this season and I have the two legacy quests (Challenger's Proving & Path of the Splicer I). Both are at the step requiring you to go to the Umbral Decoder and pick up the quest Decrypting the Darkness. It's not there. I have 2 umbral engrams in my inventory, and I've already sacrificed one by decrypting it there just to make sure that wasn't a requirement, but still nothing.

1 ReplyI'm in the exact same boat, chosen/splicer/lost seasonal quests are all stuck on this stupid step, neither the recaster nor the umbral decoder show anything when I go into them, and I've decrypted like 10 umbrals and nothing has changed. I've done all quests available, and the most annoying part is it's only affecting my alt characters.

decrypting the darkness won't progress for me either. Also on an alt character. It's not in the kiosk and I have already decrypted a dozen or so engrams, but they can't be focused. THis happened with the Battlegrounds quest line, the splicer quest-line, and I don't even see anything for season of the lost. hope it gets addressed soon.

Same here, i'm unable to focus the umbrals, i done a post about this too and no response... I wonder how a new light player will react, like "what i'm doing wrong"? When the thing are actually bugged.
