I mean, I know its year 4 and that was year 1. But why did they remove the red war intro to D2? New players, or players that started another guardian dont get to experience it. I'm looking for answers. Please help me

Because bungie would rather bait in a few new players with false promises and that half assed remake of the d1 intro than let their fans be happy. Every decision the company has made these past years has proved time and time again that they only care about money

4 RepliesThey removed Red War, Osiris and Warmind because Free2Players had too much content to play and Bungie wanted to lock that down ASAP. Free2Players now have next to nothing and must spend £100 to get any stories or content worth playing, and gear worth having. People ate up the lies about "saving file space" but anyone with a brain knew it was to bring in excessive paywalls to make people feel like they need to purchase something just to have a game worth playing.

4 RepliesThey wanted to reduce the overall size of the game and bring back D1 stuff (i think there was also technical upgrades behind the scenes and removing 4 planets meant less work for them to do to rebuild the game) Honestly not a fan myself, the new intro is a bit crap, the cosmodrome's return was half-assed and I miss the year 1 content. (Was thinking the other night about how i'd like to run through some of the Osiris stuff again)

The lack of a proper campaign, as well as a lot of content being removed, is hurting the game a lot for New Light players. The intro helps, but it isn’t enough to get you invested. Forsaken doesn’t work, because why should you care about funny robot man without the years of bonding beforehand? Same with Beyond Light and Shadowkeep. They definitely add to the threat that we’re fighting, but New Light blueberries don’t know, or care about who we are fighting for. You can certainly get invested into the game, but there’s no way to relive any of the past story that has moved on since. Destiny, for being called an MMO, is a pretty bad MMO. I can understand not wanting to have players download hundreds of gigabytes to play, but it may be better than what we have now. If not, then this game model was doomed to fail in the first place. Even the content that we lost in D2 was pretty mediocre. And of course, I’m not going to mention the various other controversies within the game. If we just hold it to the story itself, if you’ve been following along since or near the beginning, it’s been great. If you’re just joining now, you may appreciate the current season’s content between Mithrax and the rest, but not fully understand the reason why Savathun and Quria are so important. TLDR: Newer players have little to no context as to who we are fighting for, causing a major disconnect from the players and bond between characters in game.

1 ReplyEdited by Denji, Kell of Chainsaws: 6/15/2021 5:52:00 PMTo be fair I think the new intro is a great way to introduce new players to gameplay mechanics, however I do think Red War was a great intro campaign as well because it explained things and introduce the players to the characters. I feel like new players are now getting really confused about what’s going on in the game and where to go after the tutorial and that old players are the only ones who know what’s going on. Also none of them really knew Cayde-6 so Forsaken wasn’t really the same. I’m hoping that they add the old campaigns to the ‘legends’ activity on destinations because whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped into war with the Cabal on Mars. Or they could just make a new intro campaign. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

3 RepliesBecause you can watch everything online.

4 RepliesBecause thats over, we won the war. The new intro is for NEW guardians, not veterans like myself. Basically the new lights start as of they had JUST been risen after the war.

I was sooooo pissed when they took it away

Google for nostalgia….

6 Repliesthey did explain that the reason for this is to go with an new origin story that what happened before that is not Cannon and to got with that neverending evolution where origins will change after Lightfall the series of stories will start over.
-
since the entire red war camp was removed it would make no sense to include the original opening

It's because the intro (the real, real one) should be the Beyond Light DLC. Prove of this is the fact that, if you restart your character, yeah, you will have that Cosmodrome intro but if log out and log in again, it will jump to BL intro automatically. The thing is, we're paying for this content, so for the moment (until Beyond Ligth gets free) you're going to awake in the Cosmodrome

2 RepliesWell you can’t have an intro for content that isn’t there anymore.

3 RepliesBecause the war is over? 🤷♂️

3 RepliesEdited by Double07: 6/12/2021 8:57:34 PMA poor attempt at nostalgia baiting new players. Imagine that. By the way, they started to do this when you could play all campaigns, so it wasn’t because they removed the Red War campaign.

1 ReplyBecause bungie put too many resources in travel spaces with no real content or enemies to keep it
