RIP.
They had the makings of a No Man’s Sky-style comeback. But I guess the numbers didn’t add up, and DA 4 is in trouble....

2 Replies"Go on, take the money and run." Anthem is the reason why a lot of people will never preorder a game again.

The game seemed abandoned a while back, like when they had the Christmas decorations up months after Christmas.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but another reason Anthem was probably dropped was the success of Apex Legends. Spin it anyway you want, Anthem was always an attempt by EA to get their own Live Service money farm and they got it elsewhere, so the investment and spread resources were no longer worth it.

1 ReplyIf EA cancelled them, they probably were just playing with their thumbs for the past couple years the way they did with almosf 5 of the full games development time. So many people were so blindly faithful that Anthem was going to pop off, but all the warning signs were there. My biggest fear was Bioware getting shut dowm after it flopped, and it looks like that might be the case. I hope Biowares staff are split and hired on across the gaming industry at jobs that won't cause them "Stress Causalties" and work on projects with some actual soul.

A friend of mine who played the game a lot told me ''Too bad. Somewhere inside it there is a really good game hiding''

5 RepliesI laughed, so very maniacally, when I read the article this morning. I saw this coming from the beginning. Splitting your best team away from what could have been an amazing game in Mass Effect: Andromeda to work on a new ip about being Ironman's and then doing that badly is not surprising. The then so called destiny killer failing on arrival followed by failure to produce anything worth playing after the release made the non-franchise dead in the water. They where never going to get to a point where the better release would happen. Now bioware can focus on the good game series it has left, mass effect, dragon age, and swtor. ♡

3 RepliesI'm not surprised at all. The game that released was a joke, and there was no way EA was going to let them redevelop the entire game "on-the-fly" I bought the fancy preorder special edition and everything. Never again. Bioware truly signed their death warrant when they paired up with those a-holes at EA. If anything I'm insulted by the idea of them RE-RELEASING the Mass Effect trilogy after the colossal failures of Andromeda and Anthem, and they continue to beat the dead horse that is DA. Sorry- inquisition was not good imo, but im sure some people enjoyed it.

1 Replygood riddence, slow air movement headass game

I am saddened.

Eh, curse of EA. Whatcha gonna do?
-
1 ReplyRIP. Well, let’s not act like this wasn’t a possibility in its future.
-
Who cares?

Yup, unfortunate news indeed, was really hoping for them to pull a 180 with it. Oh well, I'll drown my sorrows in the outriders demo tomorrow.
-
Anthem had a better foundation than every other live service game out there. It’s sad and not that surprising. However, because Anthem is getting axed doesn’t mean I have to support Destiny 2 or Division 2. I’ll be playing ME: LE and PSO2 for sci-fi genres.
-
I can't say I'm suprised. Honestly, I would have put good money on this exact outcome.
-
Last I heard there was like 30 people still working on it. I’m not surprised by this news.

Here comes the death of an amazing game. The memory of Anthem will always be one of fondness. It had amazing potential, the only bad part was the loading time and the lack of endgame content.
-
3 Replies
the makings of a No Man’s Sky-style comeback
In what sense 🤣
-
2 RepliesDid they? It was just rumors and seeing their skeleton crew and initial development screwup there was way more of a chance of shit-all happening to it.
-
Hey Kelly, could you say bababooey? I think that it would look funny

I just heard. I knew Bioware didn't have the resources to work on DA4, ME Next, and Anthem Next, all at the same time. But it is still is surprising to see EA abandon their potential cash cow.
