How it works:
Hip Fire will target up to 3 enemies, and releasing will fire three arrows that will do body shot damage similar to how Trinity Ghoul functions. When a hip fire arrow hits a target, it marks the target with an ignite that does no damage. If an ignited target dies, it explodes. And it's a pretty hefty explosion, somewhere between Ace of Spades and Sunshot levels of radius and damage.
If you ADS however, it fires a single arrow. If you ADS and hit a target that's marked- it will activate the explosion without a kill, doing the damage on the spot.
However if you do a Perfect Draw Crit on a marked target while ADS- the explosion does bonus damage.
An example:
On Karl, the Cabal on Nesus, a crit does 8099 with no buff. (sadly it's not possible to get a lack of perfect draw crit, the buff fades away before you can get no perfect draw)
On a body shot, the arrow hits for a little over 5000, with no buff. With the buff, the explosion does the same damage, so it's around 10000 damage.
On a perfect draw crit with the buff... the crit damage is 8099 and the explosion hits for 11,839 damage. for about 19.9k damage with JUST the bow.
And this buff can be applied and used by anyone in your fire team who has the bow, like Malfeasence, Outbreak, ect. But you can't stack affects, so if one person marks... and two people fire ADS, the bow won't give two explosions, only one. So one person is just doing crit damage, while the other gets crit and explosions.
Thoughts personally: It's interesting. I'll say that.

I like it a lot for pve, but getting kills with it for the catalyst is going to take me a while.

Giggity. Solar explosions = new Warmind build.

Its pretty well balanced, it allows for some fun one shots but bows in general are slow and clunky so its not so easy to consistently land those shots. The bow kind of warns players when they are tagged so its difficult to get that second shot out, on pvp the bow is not really better than le monarque however on pve, this bow is insanely powerful.

3 Replies🤔 Interesting. I watched Nexas on YouTube try this weapon out in PvP. Seems well balanced.

1 ReplyWhen I was playing briefly and equipped the bow, I didn’t get why the bow wasn’t firing the three tracking arrows like in the trailer. I then looked at the descriptions for the bow, pretty cool. Kinda weird that the two season pass exotics we’ve gotten so far have a hip fire and ads function.
