so is hive reproduction ever fully explained?

we've got brood queens and orange sacs and dark pools of liquid thralls love to climb out of but what is the actual life cycle of these nasty space -blam!-? we know all hive start as a thrall and move up the ranks but what comes before that? how does a hive recieve its worm? how do the worms reproduce?

  • But I believe Thrall are not the same "species" as the other hive. D1 lore explained that Ogres are made from Thrall. Unless they mutate thrall so heavily that they either grow to be Ogres instead of acolytes... just doesn't seem to be so.

    • When we land on Titan during the red war campaign we destroy a bunch of Hive eggs. They reproduce via laying eggs.

The Hive Babies are called Larva, then Thrall, Acylote, then once a Knight or Wizard Dies an Acylote takes up one of those Roles. Kinghts are the Male's Wizards are the Female's Acylote, Thralls have no Sex as they are Hermaphrodites. It's actually quite easy to Understand. Edit: forgot the Worms, The Worms are brought in at the Thrall Stage. And the Worms are a Species of there own. On the Dreadnought in D1, there's an Entry that the Hive Actually Grow the Worms in the Ship. Edit 2: The Worms were given by the Worm gods. They allow the Hive to be immortal, only if the Hive kill. You kill for me (aka Feed me) and I'll give you power and immortality.

      • Didnt Mama Savath teach you about the beetles and the maggots? It's like this, when a boy thrall and a girl thrall love each other very much they go into a room with the lights off and something magical, like unicorns!, HAPPENS!!!!

If I had to give an educated guess I’d say it kinda works like crustaceans or spiders. When a wizard mates with a knight the insemination process likely fertilizes hundreds if not thousands of eggs at a time (thus explaining broods and brood mothers) with the special hive being crowned the offspring of that couple. The large sacs might be not one but dozens of eggs covered in a special outer sac like that of wolf spiders sack or just a special cocoon for developing hive like a metamorphosis. This would explain hive dynamics as families of hive descended from a main family serving as the servants/army of their respective parents (hidden swarm < spawn of crota < Crota & omnigul for example) But that’s not even exploring the mind bender conundrum.

        • Its similar to bees or wasp sort of. A brood queen will lay eggs and the males probably fertilize them. The eggs are then put into yellow or orange sacks that protect them. You see this on titan. The eggs are surrounded by fluid. The egg is formed into larve and the proto hive may emerge. The worm is then given to them. If they refuse to eat it they are executed. The worms give the hive strength. This could be wrong. Feel free to correct.
