What does it take to kill a Ghost
According to byf (I know, I know) the scorn used a special type of bullet to shoot Cayde's ghost.
But I remember Felwinter killing Warlords and their ghosts with his shotgun. And I know Callum Sol "killed" a ghost with a shard. How do you kill ghost?! Someone tell me and I "promise" as hunter not to use that knowledge in the crucible.

Basically, they just need to be poked with a stick and hey presto, it's dead!

12 Replies<Literally just shoot or stab one. The bullet was meant for Cayde, a Devourer round would've nullified resurrection anyway, but the Rifleman saw Sundance and shot her instead. The Fallen killed dozens of Ghosts during Twilight Gap by just popping them once they capped their Guardians. Cabal have crushed Ghosts during the Red War with their bare hands or stomped on them. Callum Sol stabbed right through a vacant Ghost shell with ease. As mentioned earlier, Felwinter killed a Ghost by just shooting it. It's really not that hard. They're a little durable, but a well-placed shot with anything capable of going through someone will go through a Ghost.>

3 RepliesAccording to the LORE*. Not Byf. Lore YTers arent the be all end all source of lore and knowledge. They make mistakes. They interpret things wrongly. What the LORE says, is that all these things happened, so in all actuality, all you have to do is destroy it in some way. You don’t need a special bullet or anything like that. In fact, the Devourer bullet was meant for Cayde to nullify resurrection directly hit to him, but Sundance being the Ghost she was got in the way and got shot for it...

Ideally, if you can get a geeky dude, a black guy a smart-sciencey dude and a quick whitted wise-guy who cracks jokes all the time (and ideally looks like Bill Murray), as well as a pimped out hearse. That's the best way to get rid of a Ghost.

1 ReplyAnything Darkness related does the trick, like Hive magic or a Devourer bullet like those from Thorn. They drain the Ghost of their Light and leave them dead. Arc damage is actually rather effective as well, which is one of the reasons why the plain old Fallen were so effective. The Cabal in Destiny 1 needed Heavy Artillery for bombardments to kill Ghosts because the Legions we faced actually didn’t have much in the way of Arc damage, but the Red Legion came equipped. Ghosts in the immediate aftermath of the Red War were also rather brittle, given that Cabal could simply crush them. Without the Light a Ghost is just a drone after all, it doesn’t have much durability at all.

And I’ve got a little bit to add to what he said: Devourer bullets are special because they drain Light so shooting a Guardian with one will kill them permanently without harming the Ghost. This is what happened to Pahanin when he was shot by Thorn in the Crucible. We have tons of examples of Ghosts being killed by regular weapons. When the Drifter said “Scorn guns can’t kill Ghosts” we assume he was over-exaggerating (the Drifter tends to exaggerate and say things that aren’t completely true) and referring to how Scorn weapons tend to be crap, just a bunch of junk salvaged and pieced together.
