Before progressing the “In the face of darkness” quest I filled my engram slots (10/10) with Umbral Engrams, and now when I go to talk to the drifter after progressing the quest I can’t decode the engram, because I don’t have enough space. I don’t see a way to delete one of my engrams, so any thoughts?

I cant have talked to the drifter and now I cannot even find the Contact Public Event on IO or on Titan. I deleted an engram I started a new character and still nothing. Is there not a support email to send an email to?

4 RepliesRight so i know exactly what the problem is! What all the YouTube guides didn’t tell you is that you MUST complete the quest after booting the game after updating to season 11, and you comIO, where you go to return Eris Morn to Zavala on IO with all the floating pyramids and taken. After completing it, when you spawn back at the tower, you need to go and see The Drifter. He will tell you to go and do a public event called “CONTACT” on IO. You DON’T need to actually win or complete it. You just need to finish it, wether you win or loose. Once you’ve done that, you need to go back to see the Drifter and he will give you an umbral engram that you must accept and then you can decrypt them... Now i had another problem after this and I'm sure a lot of you will have the same one. I already had 10 umbral engrams in my inventory and as you can’t delete or store them in the vault, you have to switch to a second character, go and complete the first quest in season 11, as i talked about earlier which is based on IO. You don’t need to go and do the public event again though, just go back and see the Drifter after you’ve completed the quest, he will give you the engram and then you can proceed to go back to your other character and decrypt the engrams. Hope that solves a lot of problems/ confusion.

3 RepliesCan confirm the second character is a quick fix to this issue. I didn’t even have to do any of the story missions. Just get your light to 770 and talk to shaxx at the tower, he’ll then send you to the drifter and you’ll talk to him. You’ll see the Umbral quest is listed as abandoned. Grab it, you’ll get the engram and then use the decoder next, which will globally unlock it for all your characters. Hope this helps all with this issue! I had the same problem. 100% works trust me!

Now I've tried to progress the Drifters quest line and I can't accept his Umbral Engram to progress the quest. I can not discard any of my engrams so I am stuck between a full inventory of Umbral Engrams and not being able to decrypt them. Please I really need ANY help with this... Hey, so i have been playing comp today and collected 10 umbral engrams. Now I hadn't done the 1st new quest you get yet. So i decided i would do that which then tells me to go to the drifter who would give me an engram but i can't pick it up because I'm full so i can't decrypt any engrams. Does anyone have a work around. Also I only actually play 1 character does anyone know if i complete the quest on a different character it would take me to the next stage on my current character. hey bungie why, how, is this, a problem (that i also have)? no forward thinkers on team code monkey" i cannot decrypt my full set of umbrals? why?
-
Ok so I just started playing again and didn’t know the mission was important so I went to orbit and did the mission later but it still is telling me that I have nothing to decode and I only have 7 Umbral engrams I’m afraid to play more and not have a way to fix it

3 RepliesI dont have a second char, Whats the fix Bungie????
-
Took me less than 2 hours, to redo the first missions...I didn't even have to do the "Contact" mission....it immediately allowed me to use the decoder for the umbral engrams. Sooo...just start over with another character, do the first missions and talk to the Drifter.

Same problem here....shoot...ok...

3 RepliesI submitted this to the bungie help feedback forum, so hopefully it gets fixed soon, but we'll see

Same problem :(

Having THE SAME PROBLEM. OMG why don’t they give us the option to store engrams in the vault or at least discard them??.
-
1 ReplyI've got the exact same problem... will try to fix it via a second character. This shouldn't work like that though.
-
Complete this part of the quest on a second character which should unlock the machine account wide.

10 RepliesThis worked for me... Log into a second account, go through the new startup mission, and collect/decrypt the umbral engram you get before you fill your inventory up with them. Then you can switch back to your main account.
