Massive frame drops and input lag on D2 PC.

My PC certainly isn't the highest spec, but it has been easily running 70+ fps (display is only 60) on the highest default settings with uncapped framerate and no vsync (I use AMD enhanced sync) for a few months with no problem. Recently its been suffering from big frame drops (to 30fps or less) and also noticeable input lag. I use an xbox wireless controller (don't hate please! 😁) but even with a keyboard and mouse the lag is still there. The most irritating part is that is will play fine for half an hour or so, then suddenly slow down. - Ryzen 7 2700x 8 core / 16 thread, 4.2 boost, no OC - AMD RX 580 8GB MSI Armour OC clocked to 1436, but same issue with factory clock - 16GB Corsair Vengeance PRO 3200 - 550w Corsair PSU - All liquid cooled (ooOOoo fancy) This setup holds 60fps(ish) on Doom 2016 on ultra settings, so I'm guessing the issue is D2s end. With any of the AMD boost, anti-lag, chill, etc settings on or off there's no change. The only thing I haven't tried is moving the game back to the drive steam is installed on, which is a M.2 drive as opposed to a mechanical "game" drive. Shouldn't make a difference, but we'll see. The other issue I've had since new is it will frame lock to 24fps when running in fullscreen, even with the limiter and vsync off. When it's set to fullscreen windowed there's no limit. These issues are making the game pretty much unplayable at the moment. Really disappointed, as this is the game I've invested most time in across console and PC. Any help would be appreciated. 😊 PT.

  • You need to use chill. Sett your chill to whatever the refresh rate of your monitor is.
