When I try to launch D2 on steam, an error message pops up and says I have to verify game files in properties. I've done this twice already and nothing so far, same message pops up when I try to launch.

1 ReplyI think I figured it out for me at least. So i pressed the windows key and R and typed %appdata% in the tiny windo and clicked ok Then i opened the bungie folder, which in turn i opened the DestinyPC folder after that i right clicked the file called cvars and opened it with note pad this is what it should look like this is what i changed it to, you should fiddle with the render resolution value to about 35 ( 25 is the lowest value) I also changed the window mode to one which made it a smaller window. If you want you can copy the values but do know im on a low end pc <namespace name="graphics"> <cvar name="force_auto_detect" value="0" /> <cvar name="force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value="0" /> <cvar name="window_position_x" value="9" /> <cvar name="window_position_y" value="38" /> <cvar name="window_mode" value="1" /> <cvar name="anti_aliasing_mode" value="0" /> <cvar name="dof_mode" value="0" /> <cvar name="ssao_mode" value="0" /> <cvar name="shadow_quality" value="0" /> <cvar name="environment_detail" value="0" /> <cvar name="character_detail" value="0" /> <cvar name="texture_quality" value="0" /> <cvar name="texture_anisotropy_level" value="0" /> <cvar name="foliage_detail" value="0" /> <cvar name="local_light_shadows" value="0" /> <cvar name="wind_impulse" value="0" /> <cvar name="gamma_control" value="3" /> <cvar name="foliage_shadows_mode" value="0" /> <cvar name="hdr_output" value="1" /> <cvar name="atmosphere_lighting_detail" value="0" /> <cvar name="master" value="0" /> <cvar name="framerate_cap_enabled" value="0" /> <cvar name="low_latency_mode" value="1" /> <cvar name="fullscreen_resolution_width" value="1280" /> <cvar name="fullscreen_resolution_height" value="720" /> <cvar name="fullscreen_refresh_rate_numerator" value="138700000" /> <cvar name="fullscreen_refresh_rate_denominator" value="2310880" /> <cvar name="windowed_resolution_width" value="1280" /> <cvar name="windowed_resolution_height" value="720" /> <cvar name="render_resolution_percentage" value="35" /> <cvar name="framerate_cap" value="200" /> <cvar name="version" value="3" />

4 RepliesThis is what I discovered and what worked for me: It's apparently memory-related; probably something to do with how Destiny 2 utilizes RAM for caching. You need to go into your BIOS and, if possible, enable the XMP/DOCP profile for your RAM to optimize its timings and voltage for performance. You may also have to manually adjust the frequency of the memory to match the XMP/DOCP profile's projected frequency - e.g., it may say something like DOCP 3000MHz 16-18-18-20, but unless you actually set the frequency to 3000MHz, it will operate at the default frequency (likely 2666MHz). Hope this helps, if you haven't already given up/otherwise fixed it.

still getting this issue. nothing has solved the issue, only slightly improved it. bungie please fix your game
-
1 ReplyI had the same issue, a friend recommended updating to steam beta client and the game works now, hope it does for you guys too!
-
Still having this problem myself, since at LEAST season of Undying. Over and over in completely random intervals the game will just quit and give me a error tab from steam telling me to "verify game files". Even after following its directions, there have been times where I would crash again 10 minutes later.

god, please, need solusion of this bugs.

1 ReplyIt’s been a bit since this thread has been updated but can someone tell me what to do to fix this??? I have attempted everything listed here but after playing for 30 to 45 minutes I get booted and have to validate my system files yet again. There has got to be a fix for this. Before anyone says it’s my machine it’s not because 1-my machine is barely a year old and I ensured it met all requirements to play this game and 2-I have no issue with any other game or app to include video streaming. Any and all help is appreciated

I get the same thing on Xbox one X.
-
I have this problem too but it lets me play for at least a few hours then I get the error to verify files, this has happened since it launched on steam. nothing that has been mentioned has worked for me, if I delete anything, the game just doesn't launch

2 RepliesThe people who are still having this issue. Is your Steam folder located in "Program Files (x86)"? Try copying your Destiny folder somewhere else (anywhere). Then uninstall steam and install it again to C:\Games\Steam - OR WHATEVER YOU LIKE - As long as the (x86) is not in it - NO BRACKETS. Once steam is installed - Copy your Destiny 2 folders to steamapps\common\ - if common folder is not there, create it. Go into Steam and install Destiny 2 - It will discover existing files and you will not have to download the game again. Hopefully this helps some people still having the issue.

Do you use three memory sticks? i have same problem and i think this is RAM+desteny problem. maybe we have to low RAM frequency

9 RepliesHi there, Thanks for letting us know. We recommend first trying to clear your download cache, follow this link to learn how: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638 If the problem persists please contact Steam support.

5 RepliesEdited by billin30: 10/2/2019 7:27:31 PMOk, I think I figured it out finally. Here is what must be done, combining all the stuff that people have posted: 1. Make sure your destiny2.exe is NOT set to Run as Administator 2. Delete all files in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Destiny 2 folder EXCEPT for the packages folder 3. Empty Recycle Bin, make sure its all gone. 4. Steam Settings -> Download -> Clear Download Cache 5. Log Back In 6. Verify Integrity of Game Files. I was able to get to the character selection screen and drop in to the Moon. Do not go back and set destiny2.exe to Run as Administrator again. That just broke it again. I did my same method again and fixed it, was able to load the game two consecutive times. I feel that should be the fix.

seems a ton of people have this problem including me BUT! i only get this on my laptop... my PC booted up fine today and ran without issue for 2+ hours until i had to leave. PC is using the same steam profile, so same friends list etc etc etc so its a strange issue and DEFINITELY not related to friends list ALSO, deleting all files except main package files works to get in the game, but i'll just crash with the same error after a while. def bungie -blam!-ed up somewhere, but who knows where
-
1 ReplyI just verified it for like the 8th time, tripped checked it got through my firewall, ran it as an administrator, and launched it through my program files. Then it worked :)

2 Repliessame issue here, and my crash log reads stack: 00007FF6C733927F <unknown> 00007FF6C733860A <unknown> 00007FF6C7334302 <unknown> 00007FF6C82E1941 <unknown> 00007FF6C74552A1 <unknown> 00007FF6C70D31D3 <unknown> 00007FF6C70D3CA1 <unknown> 00007FF6C8834163 <unknown> 00007FFA7AD47BD4 <unknown> 00007FFA7B10CEE1 <unknown> session_id: Tue_10012019_221225_009996@x64@unknown_pc_user@EF_4B_82_43_9B_1D_5C10 halt: RELEASE_VHALT halt information: Invalid Steam configuration fatal error detected, current status was: i've now seen a second post with the exact same crash log here. currently doing a full reinstall

I've tried the whole "delete everything but the packages file" method, it works for a bit, but after an hour or two it does the same thing and then I can hardly load it for 5 mins. Just gotta wait for Bungie to fix this
-
6 RepliesEdited by KesatriaBajaJebol: 10/2/2019 9:25:39 AMHey guys, maybe you can delete "steam_appid" file in your destiny 2 in your steam library folder. Thanks to BNGHelp6 for this glorious suggestion https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/253739304?sort=0&page=0
-
Same story here. Verified twice. Reinstalled. Moved some of the files from the bin into the root folder. Nothing worked. Deleted everything but the package folder and verifying again as some have suggested.
-
Same problem. Tried all known fixes. Not working.
-
Yeah preloaded the game a few days ago tried to play at launch but it wanted to update what was already done downloading. After waiting a long time and the download going no where I think I will just wait a few weeks to play. It sucks but meh wouldn't be the first time I couldn't play a game I paid money for.
-
So after many different combinations of: verifying, reinstalling, clearing download cache, deleting steamid, not running as admin, turning off windows firewall, deleting appdata, and probably some other stuff I finally got in
-
i got a solution: 1 delete all destiny folder files except packages folder 2 disable all firewalls or antivirus u have on your computer (windows firewall too) 3 use verifying tool of steam (will download 55 new files) try to launch the game. that works for me i hope it works for u guys (and sorry for my english)
-
7 RepliesSolved my problem. You should add all destiny 2 files in to exceptions of your antivirus and firewall. It seems like some process that looking for installed dlc's is indicating like a virus activity.
-
2 RepliesSame issue here. Im running a Ryzen Threadripper 1950x, 16Gigs Ram, and 1080Ti on a water cooled system. And I pre-loaded this game from Steam, the exact same way I install all other games. I switched my accounts over weeks ago. Bought the DLC days ago....and I can't even start the damn game!? This is a dump truck load of bullshit.
