7066 Nessus

Or just Nessus named after the centaur of fame in Greek mythology, as we all know is a rock that just fits under the planet classification. Its 57km wide making is about the size of a city. Personal gripe about gravity aside (I miss the wonkey gravity of the moon from destiny 1) assuming the Vex 'grew' off from the centaurs core expanding it to near moon size (as Vek seemingly are want to do) I do have a question about light. If you were to gaze up at the sky ignoring the planet-eating barge that takes up the horizon One would see two let's call them micro stars lighting the 'day'. What are those?

  • <1. The City is double the size of the Traveler, which would make it more around 28km from one side of the outer wall to the other. 2. Nessus isn't moon sized at all. The cavern the core rests in is still like a couple minutes away from the landing zones. 3. Artificial stars just to light up the ship.>

  • Those two stars are part of the Leviathan... They have been for years now

  • It’s never been confirmed what those two looking stars are to my knowledge. They are close to the leviathan and have been theorized to be some sort of energy source for the leviathan. Nothing confirmed though

  • Gravity is not tied to size alone Gravity, what we understand of it, is created actively rather than passively, by the rotation of the planet and its polarity. Certain factors, such as size, increase the 3 dimensional 'weight' of an object in space, thus attracting nearby, smaller objects, however, a planet, or other object's specific gravity is determined more so by polarity and rotation. Meaning nessus gravity, due to vex interference, would be unpredictable, how fast is it rotating? How positive or negative are the poles. Are the poles vertical or horizontal to the spin? What materials constitute the core and crust? Science can create a gravitational force around a marble, greater than that on the surface of Sol, that is real life... Not to mention, rotation, just like earth, determined a portion of the EFFECTUAL gravity. If the earth stopped spinning, no centripetal force would be present to counteract gravity. Not only would we suddenly flail across the surface at 25000-ish mph, we would do so under immense gravitational pressure. We would become pancakes. Flying pancakes. Just...know that there is more to gravity than most people understand...and most of the answers you get will be wrong, because even NASA is still working out exactly how objects are affected by gravity... Truth is. No one knows.
