Exodus Crash - Faster than Lightning Triumph help?

Meaning I can melee any type of Shanks, including the ones in the beginning of the strike? Or does it has to be the exploding ones in the boss arena? Also, does the Melee 'energy' has to be full in order to count?
I'm confused on the wordings.

There is a youtube video of this actual triumph, they killed the ones at the beginning, but I'm not sure if that is why it happened.

I'm pretty sure it means the shanks in the Arena where you fight the Boss. Your Melee ability does not have to be full, it worked for me with normal melees. You just have to take your time with your health as you almost die to the shank when meleeing it.
