So when it comes to the reef/dreaming city do males serve the same roles as females? I can’t ever recall seeing a male ‘tech witch’ or Corsair.

...Milk Dungeons.

There were fewer males on the colony ship that ended up jn the Distributary, and according to the lore those males needed to be “protected” or something like that. The Reef does have a matriarchal society, though.

13 RepliesEdited by Of 1000 teeth: 12/28/2018 3:30:01 AMMales and females in Awoken society are meant to reflect the dichotomous, constant in the universe. All organic life starts with an X chromosome. An upper layer/ level mirror of an ∞ symbol. You can see this symbol occur naturally in space too. The hourglass nebula is a spectacular display of this truth. As life developed and grew, it crafted a secondary chromosome in the shape of another X. However, organic life hit a “barrier” or wall and came to a point where it needed to “sharpen” down a fourth of its secondary chromosome. Doing this allowed for continued advancement and further growth needed to keep living. An X turned into a Y and males came from females. Although a Y chromosome is still an X chromosome. The “missing” end just appears to have been sharpened off entirely. Just enough to allow the genetic variance needed to keep organic life thriving. Women historically, are often associated as seers, oracles, or witches because of their more prevalent connections with the universe. Men historically, are associated with weapons that are crafted or “shaped”. They were meant to attack and defend as needed pertaining to their surroundings. Not that both features can’t be seen interchangeably. Like Petra serving in the Queen’s Wraith. This also reflects how the Darkness came from the Light. If the Traveler were carved in a similar fashion to the onyx pyramid ships, it would look just like them but radiant with light. Likewise, if the pyramid ships were smoothed out, they would look like a black traveler.

The lore tab for Trinity Ghoul has a male ex-Corsair.

15 RepliesWell Awoken society revolves on a matriarchy, with women being the the most prominent from the two genders While it is rare, male's can fill positions such as paladins and Queens wrath, even becoming Techeuns although that is incredibly rare. It kinda parallels how Humanity evolved in that sense but in reverse. In the past men would usually fill crucial positions with women kind of relegated to less demanding jobs, just like the Awoken have all females filling powerful and crucial positions while men are given more menial tasks like cryptarch or shop keeper

3 RepliesEdited by Hexi: 12/28/2018 5:49:37 PMMara literally wileed the crew of the ship she was on into being, creating the Awoken race and they worship her as a goddes. So, naturally, women are revered as leaders in Awoken society. Who knows what the Awoken society she left behind is like these days in world she created in another dimension. I know none of this is explained in the game but... that's the lore.

Seems the awoken society's are Margaret Sanger's wet dreams come true. Sad to see really.

2 RepliesMy Warlock is an Awoken male, and I dare any female Awoken witch to face my Chaos reach arc beam of death, especially when I'm wearing my Geomag stabilizers.⚡

The females stay closer to the Reef. The males ventured out as scouts....and promptly died.

Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina

There have been male Paladins and Queen’s Wrath. I mean...they have a Prince.

1 ReplyThe reef is an extremely matriarchal society, so men’s role in awoken society is comparatively close to women’s role in 1800s English society.

2 Replies<Male corsairs happen, a little rarer than female but it happens. Very rarely, and I mean VERY rarely, do male tech witches happen.>

Bc they would be tech wizards
-
I did a scan patrol in the dreaming city that confirms there is no rule against male tech witches its just rare

Males are more likely than not to become Paladins over Techeuns or Corsairs. Not that it can’t happen, though.
