Sedia knew zavala before he became a guardian
I was browsing through my inventory when i heard petra say sedia knew zavala before he died and became a guardian and that he hasnt changed much. Hearing this and remembering zavala's trailer got me wanting to hear more of zavala's origin and how he died

It's why he's so committed to guarding them. It's his life's work... One day, when the horn went off late for lunch at a wall's construction site, he pulled out a brown paper bag containing his sandwich his girlfriend made him. He didn't realize it was a ham sandwich, and he should have kept it in the fridge in the boss' trailer. Instead, his sandwich had been sitting in the heat all day. But, he figured "I'm a big tough guy. What's the worst that can happen to me?", and Zavala ate the sandwich. Zavala died 48 hours later from severe food poisoning. True Story.

He, like many other Awoken, decided not to stay with the queen, and departed for Earth in a ship with at least one other Awoken. Somewhere along the way, his ship was downed and both occupants died in the crash. Judging by the fact that a skeleton is inside the ship in which Zavala is revived, it is safe to assume that a long time passed between the crash and Zavala's revival.

He was one of the how much food could you eat in a minute contest. In other words, he choked and died cause of a contest and he was rezzed because the ghost thought he could beat his record which he probably didn't and the ghost is regretting rezzing zavala.

Guessing by Mara's lore books and the Zavala trailer I assume Zavala was one of the many Awoken who rioted in the Reef, and was then part of the Exodus to Earth. It is likely his ship crashed (Reef ships don't seem too stable) or was shot down. Everyone died but he lived again.

Zavala worked in the blue department of a paint factory..... He got fired for using the product inappropriately....... So he had to sign up to be a ghost bitch.

All awoken came to this world at the same time, so all awoken know each other. However, a small group of awoken left the queen’s rule and either died or are away from the reef. Zavala was one that died and became a guardian.

I remember reading a card from Mara about her trying to mentally communicate with the Awoken on Earth. Wasn’t happy they left the Reef.
