Callum stabbed his ghost, not Yor. Yor abandoned his ghost on Mars but didn't kill it.

In the season of the drifter Vidic bungie posted on their Twitter, one of the nine things said to the drifter, hello dredgen. Since we now know that drifters name is dredgen, and that he was a follower of yor, you have to think, is this really Dredgen Yor? Just think about it and it will all make sense.

The Drifter can't be Dredgen Yor, and Shin Malphur would know if he was. To justify this, we have to look at the history of all three characters (Callum Sol also has a part to play). [b]The Drifter:[/b] At some point prior to the Red War, the Drifter and his crew encountered strange beings similar to the darkness on an icy world (assumed to be Europa or Enceladus, but could be elsewhere). They discovered that these beings inherently consumed light, as multiple of his crew died in their sleep, and their ghosts could not resurrect them. Later (when the Red War began on Earth), they all lost their light, causing the crew to turn on each other, each believing that the others had used the creature to cause this. The Drifter was the only survivor. Personally, I believe the mass behind the Drifter on his ship is this creature. [b]Shin Malphur:[/b] Shin grew up in a small village beyond the City. They typically barely protected themselves from the Eliksni. Jaren Ward, a wandering hunter, found them, and stayed to protect them. While there, Jaren befriended the young Shin. This occurred well before the age of our Guardian, as Dredgen Yor was still at large. Jaren was killed by Dredgen. Shin took up his ghost and hand cannon, the Last word, and vowed to end Dredgen's reign, and prevent Weapons of Sorrow from ever causing such death and despair again. I believe this is the only recorded instance of a ghost being able to transfer to a living human after the Second Death of their guardian. [b]Dredgen Yor:[/b] Rezyl Azzir was the first Lightbearer to hold the title of Guardian. He is widely believed to be a Titan. When the Hive first awoke on the moon after the collapse, Rezyl fought them to the very end. As shown in Age of Triumph lore, Rezyl fought until his auto rifle was empty. He then drew his famous hand cannon, the Rose, and fought until he was out of all ammo. He continued to fight, using his auto rifle as a club to break hive bone and chitin. After emerging victorious over a particularly powerful wizard that whispered dark spells to him, he grafted pieces of bone to the Rose, as a testament to his trial and victory on Luna. The paracausal magics of the hive would seep into the prized cannon, bending its shape and nature into what would be known as the notorious Thorn. The first Weapon of Sorrow. A Guardian killer. The whispers didn't only affect his weapon though. The warped Rezyl's mind. He took the name Dredgen Yor, and donned a cloak, which is why many believed Yor to be a Hunter. Yor would move on to run rampant and kill many guardians, including Jaren Ward, until Shin Malphur ended his life with the first Golden Gun. [b]Callum Sol:[/b] Callum has a much smaller part to play, but I believe his actions explain why the Drifter is not a Shadow of Yor. Callum stole the core used to create Malfeasance, a replacement for Thorn. Considering its lore tab, Malfeasance is meant to fight something even more sinister than guardians, and is not inherently a replica of Thorn, but meant to do more monumental things than the notorious hand cannon. I do not believe that Callum would have stolen it from the Drifter if the Drifter was a Shadow, as the group was collectively focused on making a carbon replica of Thorn in order to carry on Dredgen Yor's legacy. Then there's Gambit. Yes, you can say that the Drifter is building a Taken army, but I do not believe this makes him inherently evil. Shin Malphur consulted with the Vanguard in his hunt for Shadows of Yor, and collectively agreed to allow the Drifter to run Gambit as a means to catch and eliminate any guardians stepping towards the Dark. With all this history and details in mind, Shin Malphur would most certainly know if Dredgen was still alive. The Drifter does have a ghost that has resurrected him, whereas Dredgen Yor rejected his ghost in favor of a Weapon of Sorrow. I believe the reason for the Dredgen title in Gambit is purely because the game is canonically meant to catch any potential "Dredgens" before they fall to the Darkness. I can totally understand why one might be inclined to say the Drifter is Yor, or the Drifter is a Shadow of Yor, but that's just not possible. But I always love to discuss theories so if you have any more opinions and justifications for your theory, i'd love to debate it! [spoiler]Why I believe The Drifter does have good intentions involves the recent leak from AnonTheNine about Destiny 3. Any theories gleaned from leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, however, I believe it is acceptable to speculate because the guy has a flawless track record. He leaked nine new supers, accurately described 3 of them, leaked 2 new patrol spaces, and that one of the spaces was for endgame content, all weeks before the Forsaken Reveal. And accurately stated Thunderlord in Festival of the Lost, which wasn't confirmed until the end of Week 1 of Festival, when Thunderlord was discovered in the database. I'd like to keep this post mainly about why the Drifter can't be Yor, but if anyone wants to know why I think he has good intentions, lemme know below and i'll explain. [/spoiler]
