Can you people stop calling the cluster bomb strat a “cheese”
It’s not. It’s just being OP and killing the boss with a rocket launcher strat. Y’all make it sound like cheating but it’s in no way a cheat or a glitch. You’re just high enough light to kill her without needing to do it in phases.
It’s giving the strat a bad reputation and dorks are not wanting to do it because they feel like it’s cheating or glitching the raid.
People just don’t want to waste time doing dumb shit when they can just beat the raid.

1 Reply1. Just because you call it a strat doesn't mean isn't a cheese. These words are not mutually exclusive. 2. If at any at any point doing this "strat" it requires you use a method intended to bring locked-out fellow players to the playzone; but instead FORCIBLY bring the ENTIRE team into back to an area you should not have access to at the time... You are in fact...glitching the raid. 3. If by "doing dumb shit" you mean the intended mechanics. I worry about the state of mind you have. Im not saying don't do it. Hell, back in D1 I'd pushed Atheon of the map countless times before they fixed it. I'm just saying don't deny that this is very much so cheese. Not as bad as the VoG ones or the MULTITUDE of CE cheeses. But its cheese nonetheless.

1 ReplyEdited by Cool-Caution: 10/18/2018 8:33:14 AMI know 2 people that have only kilt Riven x20 and never done anything els in the raid. so when people come out and says need to have completed the raid 5x will mean nothing as i am guessing most people have not done the rest of the raid and only kilt Riven P.S i have not kilt Riven yet as i am working my way through the raid and not doing any cheese or anything like that and playing it the way it was meant to be, if after i have completed it atlest 5 times normally i may decide on cheesing it. but to find a team that is not doing this cheese is almost impossible.

1 ReplyIt's kinda not doing the actual mechanics of the encounter, which is really easy already.
-
1 ReplyIt’s not a cheese if you can do it with rat king
-
TIL that doing things the way they're supposed to be done = wasting time doing dumb shit.
-
If you need to wipe or “join allies” its cheesy. Not really a cheese.

1 ReplyFor the record bungie has said NOTHING about fixing the riven encounter. Question to people who think it's a cheese. What does it matter to you How another person did the encounter? I've beat riven with both strats (yes I said strats) and don't care how it's done as long as my team get to the end. Plus all u get is a key so why hate on people who do the rocket method. On the flip side the original strat is a bit fun and you are missing out on a great encounter. Who the hell cares what method you use to clear the raid. Cluster or pimple popping results in the same outcome. U still need to do the LAST encounter anyway so riven is just a mini boss anyway
-
I mean, it does circumvent pretty much the entire encounter. I made sure to learn it legit because I could see Bungie putting a stop to one-rooming Riven right at the beginning. And if they do that, the people who only ever Cluster Bombed her are going to become a burden.
-
I wouldn't really call it a cheese. It reminds me of putting weapons of light bubble on the stage next to crota to maximize the sword dps on him. With that you could 1 phase or almost 1 phase with the right sword combo. Which we all know bungie never did anything about. The only thing they fixed was the little ledge you could stand on for your rocket shooters.. If anything they'll fix the wall glitch and leave it as is

4 RepliesEdited by BarretOblivion: 10/18/2018 5:25:18 AM... Its a cheese. Cheesing doesn't require glitching. Glitching to clear is called EXPLOITING. The riven rocket strat is a CHEESE, because you are circumventing the entire encounter when it was DESIGNED to be done with the mechanics, not blast away at her face. And the fact so many people are somehow having a rough time killing riven? Lol what? If you are geared Riven is pretty darn easy. Barely worth considered a raid boss. Try 15-20 minutes of an encounter you have to do. That is a raid boss norm.

1 ReplyI just got 1000 voices. Since y’all being haters anyway hate on that lmfao!!! Cluster bomb strat > time wasting noobs

17 RepliesEdited by Marcelis_Wallace: 10/16/2018 1:39:02 PMIt is cheese. It fits the very definition. cheese strategy -- strategies or ways of playing that are really powerful and do not require much skill from the players side at the same time. It's not a cheat or a glitch, but it is not the way Bungie intended for the encounter to be beaten.
-
Good thing you didn't mention the "Joining allies" exploit in your explanation, gotta avoid that bad rep.
-
4 RepliesYou’re skipping all the mechanics and the Devs said they’re looking into fixing it. Sounds pretty cheesy to me
-
Wasting time doing dumb shit. It's literally a 5 min fight legit. But good luck to you when they close this "cheese" you will spend hours with riven.
-
4 RepliesMost of the people who like that “strat” don’t know the actual mechanics nor have they ever tried. I don’t think they can say whether it feels like a cheat unless they actually complete it the right way. It’s a cheat, a skip, a cheese, a shortcut. Doesn’t matter what you call it, it’s a terrible strat that takes little to no skill. It skips ALL of the intended mechanics by exploiting an oversight by the design team. It may not be a glitch, but it definitely is a cheese and takes away from the quality of the game. It’s a disease plaguing the lfg posts and I can’t wait for Bungie to fix it. Destiny is about the grind, earn your way up or don’t play. Not everyone should get a trophy.

It is a glitch and anyone who says otherwise doesn't pay very much attention. Yes it is possible to one phase Riven in such a manner without glitching, however it is alot more difficult. The rockets make it too easy. For one reason or another they are doing far more damage then they are meant to. If you payed attention at all you can see that the damage numbers on screen with each rocket will add up to about half of what you do total in the end. If you're lucky. When I do 3million+ damage I usually hit around 200K for the main rocket and around 5K for each cluster. I would need like 12 rockets to do that 3 mil. I fired 6. Something is wrong here. My guess is that the damage of each cluster is doing multiplied damage by hitting several hitboxes. If you need more proof that something like this can happen. Go to Leviathan dogs and get a Attunement of Chaos Warlock. Throw a charged scatter grenade on top of a dog and see how much it does. Then throw a charged grenade underneath the dog and see how much it does. I've accidentally one hit a dog in 12 stacks doing the latter. However since the scatters track once charged it should in theory be doing the same damage both times. I'm assuming its the same thing with Riven. Blown up large scale.

Who cares? Do it anyway! Puritans will always bitch about anything they can. If Bungie feels the need to end it, they will. Other than that, use it and abuse it. It’s not like any of the real player base hasn’t used a sword to cross a chasm or shot countless bullets into a cave to get ahead in the game. 😹

Edited by camoyboy: 10/17/2018 4:43:10 PMThis post is like saying it wasn’t cheese to push atheon of the ledge If you do this strat your cheesing no two ways about it
Can you people stop calling the cluster bomb strat a “cheese”
Negative ghostrider... it is NOT a 'strat', it is a big old box of Velveeta and players who use it do so because they are too scrubby learn the mechanics.
People just don’t want to waste time doing dumb shit when they can just beat the raid.
Please stop with the "waste time" nonsense. A.) You are raiding, that in itself is an activity that takes time B.) That fight, with mechanics takes about 10 minutes to run properly. C.) that "dumb shit" is part of the design of the encounter.... I'm sure the developers love you calling their work "dumb shit". The reality is your team can't do the mechanics. Good lord Bungie... please just fix this cheese so these scrubby players just go back to playing their "time saving" strikes!
-
2 RepliesIt's a cheese, it bypasses the mechanics of the fight, and is an unintended way for the encounter to be completed. That being said, you don't need to be so defensive about it. No one is saying you have to stop using it. But contrary to how you feel, some people actually like playing the encounter like normal instead of just wiping over if you have bad luck (or scrambling to get to the other room with an actual exploit) and laughably melting a boss that should really just have more health if Bungie is really against people doing this ever. (or disable debuffing riven, make the damage window shorter, etc.)

1 ReplySwiss , mozzarella , provolone , cheddar it all tastes good in the end
-
1 ReplyI actually got a cluster roll on a Bad Omens last night, and lost my mind, simply because I can run that strat now.

you're right its just an efficient strat

4 RepliesIt’s cheese, plain and simple. Being able to completely skip any of the other mechanics is definitely a cheese.
