Mithrax died and it's canon
I don't know if this is Bungie explaining how someone some players killed is still in the game but our friendly Fallen Captain Mithrax was dead and then came back to life. In a grimoire card Variks is telling Cayde how Fikrul is not dead. Cayde assures Variks Fikrul was killed to which Variks responds, "You know Eliksni have ways. Like Mithrax? Like Taniks?" So Mithrax somehow came back to life at some point.

2 RepliesYeah I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that: [spoiler]He was reborn in the light. Dead serious, he was with his fireteam of guardians, and was killed by some hive while they searched for some crypt. Some hive wizards surrounded his body and then he was revived by the light I think.[/spoiler] Really interesting lore.

11 RepliesOf course he’s dead. If he was that one fallen I’m thinking of i was there when he died. Poor guy. Lots of the players killed him so he had to come back. I was playing with a titan(not Watson) when this happened [spoiler]ghost: remind me what we like better, fallen or hive. Me: fallen. *shoots and kills hive knight* Mithrax: starts speaking in fallen. *we stare at eachover, slowly lowering our guns and I start dancing* Random titan I was playing with: FIST OF HAVOC!!!! Me: :,( *sheds tear and blames tear on watery eyes*[/spoiler]

He died once before our encounter with him. And the reason he didn’t kill us if we killed the Knight and not him is due to the fact that he was reborn with Light. He was technically a Guardian.
