I've always wanted to know if a Guardian were ever to make babies with someone from the city, could the parent pass down their light to their child.
-
That would be the Guardian effectively retiring, which isn’t an option.
-
Sounds like a dank reference to the Catholic Church...

1 ReplyIt is implied that everyone holds at least a very small quantity of light in them. Ghost just search for those with “more” light and bigger potential. If guardians can reproduce, their children might have a similar quantity of light in them. If they were to die, they could be resurrected by their parents ghost, assuming the guardian parent died as well. It’s also possible that death is not necessary to be gifted with a ghost.

5 RepliesEdited by Raevenent: 9/21/2018 3:39:53 AMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOlWE3_6vx0 You're welcome. Short answer is yes. Long answer, watch the video. It was covered before back in D1 iirc, don't quote me on it. But to my understanding, no, they can not. They have their junk no doubt, and it functions properly, but since Guardians were resurrected, it's dead cells, it only makes sense, but it's conclusive otherwise. Which reminds me of the whole can an awoken and human breed? One of the grimoire cards refers to them being sterile, Fallen Card 3 I believe it was. But even then in a forum post talking about that, there wasn't a definitive answer that I could find so I would say possibly a human and awoken can breed, now what the child would be is depending on the more dominant genetics, or in very rare cases, human but with glowing eyes of an Awoken. Perhaps someone who has a better understanding of biology can debunk it hell lot better than I can but that's the best I can come up with.

8 RepliesOne of the coolest trailers from D1 suggests otherwise. https://youtu.be/jS1BM9XRgvw Premise one, man reading to his son is the Hunter. Premise two, man is actually reading to his own child. This would suggest Guardians can have children.

1 ReplyEveryone keeps saying “no because we were dead and the cells were dead.” Too bad most of these people forgot a basic teaching in biology class: Cells aren’t what make a person, DNA is. DNA has a life expectancy of 500-600 years before degrading. I believe in an interview or something a while back, it was said that the events of the game took place around 300-500 yeas after the collapse. So really, our DNA (if you were Awoken or Human) is still alive when we are resurrected. Meaning that we weren’t entirely dead. Considering that it’s ultimately DNA that you need to reproduce, it’s possible. In the case of Shin Malphur, he was never dead. He grew up and got his Ghost while he was still alive. I wouldn’t cross him off of the baby factory list. So I’d say that it’s plausible that a Guardian could reproduce.
-
We'll have to research this....
-
We know that Ghosts can choose new guardians if they loose their original (as is the case with Shin Malphur’s ghost, who originally was bonded to Jaren Ward before Dredgen Yor killed him), so theoretically it would be possible for the light to be passed on, but I would think a parent would need to die for it to work.
-
1 ReplyIf guardians bleed light, I don’t think there body undergoes regular function. Plus they also don’t age do they?
-
2 RepliesThat’d be an interesting concept. I’m not sure exactly, but if I’m not mistaken, Jaren Ward passed on his Ghost to Shin Malphur after he was killed by Dredgen Yor. Maybe it’s a possibility?
-
1 ReplyThere is conflicting evidence on sterility of guardians, like a new big piece is that shaxx banged Mara, but that head been a lot of conflict in general. There is a scenario where a ghost was handed down to a non blood relative, it’s the story of the last word, go check it out.

I would say no, only because you have to be a worthy individual to receive the traveler's blessing.
-
Awoken and humans can have kids together so...maybe

3 RepliesEdited by Blargwahar: 9/21/2018 3:59:07 AMAs a great warrior of light once said,
"Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is essential to a guardian's life. So you might say, that we are encouraged to love,"
or something like that. Guardians are forbidden from even starting a family...
Really, though, I have no clue. Thought this quote would be funny. Shoutout if you know where it comes from.
All guardians are sterile. The Light, a form of radiation, makes it so.
-
Once again, you’ve thought about this much deeper than Bungle ever will.
-
2 RepliesI think guardians are unable to reproduce, unless the lore junkies can find out if that is true or not, I’m going to say no babies from the god-slayers
-
Guardians are sterile
-
Potentially? The Ghost would need to be willing to bond with the child in question, and the Guardian would also have to be willing to give up their immortality.... But I could work
-
Light isn't genetic. For lack of a better term it's your soul. You can't just give someone your soul.
-
No, but a ghost can switch guardians. But only if the person has a strong light presence within them.
-
I don't think guardians can reproduce. As for passing light down read the thorn and last word lore and it sums it up nicely.

3 RepliesI'd rather sell mine in a yard sell. 50 cents?

I think we need Byf for this one fellas...
