Will we ever get the old tower back?

Like the new tower is cool and all but the only one was just better aesthetically while the current one just looks like a refugee camp. Like I’d like the hall of Vanguard to come back and the lounge area with the music box

    • I'm going to disagree here and say what I think destiny needs. Actual towns and cities. Each planet, at almost each planet, needs to have a living town/village/city, whichever would work best for that planet or even large moon. We need more than just a few vendors and we need NPC's roaming the streets at least to make it look like it's alive! Maybe we could start off by somewhat evicting the current owners of a large area (possibly an already built city that fell into ruin) and then by doing missions and bounties we help make the surrounding area safer and help build the town up. That way we would also have extra reason and motivation to work on each place because the bigger and better it is, the stronger the gear you'd be able to purchase from the vendors. Maybe even some special pieces of gear requiring you to go out and farm a few pieces of loot from certain high level enemies? There's way more detail I could go into here but I'll leave it at that for now since it's getting a bit long already...

It should have been repaired gradually with each expansion.

        • I heard an NPC talk about that recently while walking around tower he mentioned something about the repairs taking 50 years might be an exaggeration but who knows.

          • See this is one of the reasons I feel the universe of destiny is so lifeless, static and cold , nothing ever really changes in the game world or social spaces , very little is there to denote the passage of time to the player , I think the Leviathan may be the sole change in the game world of D2 , people may mention the solstice social space as being a change, but I'm sure it's real due the absence of people and Ikora's voice echoing etherically as if entirely in our heads. But back to the matter at hand, it be great if the tower and the entirety of the wall you can see from spawn in gradually got repaired and new things added over time, similar to what square enix does with the end game areas of FFXIV, in the base game and every new expansion there is a town you go to for high level crafting and endgame loot you get by exchanging endgame currency known as tomestones , when you first get there the town of that area is just getting started, but after several patches it gradually becomes a much larger and vibrant town , and even some of the dialogue from NPCs changes along with it.

            • Okay random idea but have Destiny 3 start off with a rebuilt tower but along with it new settlements outside the last city have been created. The first part of the game would be you traveling to each of these settlements and exploring before whatever enemy it will be shows up.

            • Not unless they are going to make it useful. I never liked how they have made "social space" so empty and never look for ways to expand them or at least improve them. The tower had so many opportunities to become a hell of a lot more useful than it actually was. I mean, it took 3 years later to see what was behind the big door across from the speaker and you only got to see it for 5 minutes the most. They had 3 years to open that door and make it useful and other part of the tower. IMO this company majorly need to expand their imagination when it comes to things like this instead of just using the same ole same ole.

            • Given a choice between the two, I prefer the old Tower. The new Tower doesn’t really have much personality to it. It also feels a little bit too spread out. Does this game really need to create so many large areas that are virtually empty ( dead space )?

              • Considering that it was destroyed, nope. What do you mean “refugee camp”? You mean the Farm? That isn’t the new Tower.

              • Still would just have the exact same vendors. You'd be bored of the old tower again after a week.

                    • Nah. The one thing that amazes me about the game is how lazy everyone is and no one bothers to repair anything.

in all reality, the tower was kind of built to be "annoying" the NPC's belt out annoying one-liners to discourage players from hanging out there for too long. after a while, the NPC's will actually begin to wisecrack at you for hanging out too long. So don't expect much on that front. I think the strategy is that if you don't hang out in one place too long then the flaws would seem less obvious.

                            • The point of this tower is to allow the Vanguard to interact with civilians. Though I do miss the old one, I actually prefer this one.

I always thought the current tower is on the site of the old tower, but rebuilt... not sure if that's true or even possible, but I guess I always just assumed that's what it is.
