There will be no Cayde-7, even if Cayde is somehow brought back.
First, Cayde will not be brought back. They've gone so out of their way to say that Cayde-6 is being killed off for good here, I'm not sure how anyone thinks they're lying. It wouldn't make sense for them to bait and switch like that, and they've never blatantly lied about such an integral story point like that. Things on the progression and gameplay side were lied about, but those don't hold a candle to the potential ramifications of lying about such an impactful death. Any retcon will totally ruin the scraps of good will Bungie have with their player base.
Even if it is revealed that this was all a farce, a big smokescreen, a lie, Cayde wouldn't be Cayde-7 if brought back. Technically, he'd still be Cayde-6, since the number is based on reBOOTS, not reVIVALS. It's an important distinction made several times in the Grimoire and during the story of Warmind in the Clovis Bray facility. Unless they reboot him, he's still Cayde-6. Just like Saint-14 was Saint-14 all the way to his grave.

I believe he will be brought back as an antagonist in the final dlc (lightfall), he will be resurrected by the darkness.

i think they will, it would be super smart of bungie to take away the favorite character to get more people playing destiny 2, but then when players stop playing later on, they could bring cayde back as a way to get people to come back and play

1 ReplyHonestly I think hes coming back they said he is really dead, we know that and then they went out of their way to specify that he isn't coming back in destiny 2. I could easily see them bringing him back everything they do is for the fans and for the money. They killed him to get a reaction and stir up the fanbase to get them to buy their dlc. I don't see why they wouldn't bring back the most hyped up and beloved character to get a reaction and get fans to buy their dlc.

But with the possibility of the Deep Stone Crypt now, there is a sort of opening for Cayde to be brought back, If we did Salvage his core it may be possible now.
