*spoilers* why was the chief in cryo sleep?
ok so im sure many of us have seen the easter egg of master chief in the POA. my question is why is he in cryo sleep? master chief was active on reach shortly after noble teams meeting with Dr halsey. in her personal notes it says how happy she was to see him. there was a meeting of the spartans to get there strategy down then they were all off to fight, including the chief. so again why is he sleeping?

all thats well and good however the chief is sleeping all tight in his casket AS the POA is taking off from reach. why would he be sleeping when the battle is still going on? to me it seems that the chief should be awake and active until they hit slip-space. i can understand him going into cryo DURING the trip to halo. just not when they are still in imminent danger. thoughts?

read the dates in the cutscenes, it takes more than 20 days to get to halo, the cheif would have been in cryo sleep to heal any injuries/get ready should they need him for battle.

About to get my nerd on... The FTL travel in Halo isn't instant, it takes a little awhile to get from point A to B, like weeks or what not sometimes months. They go into cryo sleep so their bodies don't really age while they are traveling and doing nothing.

There were some shifts made to canon in Reach, one of them being Cortana getting delivered to the Autumn by Noble (pissed me off). The other being the Autumn leaving Reach from the surface, and jumping shortly after to Halo. MC in cryo makes sense, it just cut's to that instead of showing him being active.

It the start of Halo: Combat Evolved, you wake up as Master Chief in a cryo-chamber to help fend off a covenant attack on the Pillar of Autumn. Reach ends right before the start of the first game, so he had to already be in cryo-sleep at the end of Reach.

play Halo CE then you will know why....
