With the newest patch Bungie has removed the radar from both competitive and trials, which is a bold move. However bold the decision was they seem to have forgotten that the ONLY perk of the Knucklehead Radar Exotic is that it allows radar while looking down scope. I don't know about other players, but I for one absolutely loved this exotic for PVP. That being said, it is now utterly useless in anything but Quickplay. There are vastly more options in PVE for helmets and armor, and removing its ability to provide radar while looking down scope seems to be an extreme measure. Is there any hope of allowing its functionality to return OR modifying its perk to function in a different way, perhaps pairing it with a kill qualifier to activate the perk much like Kill Clip?

If they did then every single trials team would have to have a hunter purely for radar and call outs. But what would probably happen is you’d get entire teams of nightstalkers (wow would t that be weird) cheesing with radar and invis. Plus they would then need to look at Mida or any other exotics they may consider bringing in with similar perk - or even artefacts (ghelleon anyone). Think longer term it’ll revert to having radar in as people will tire. At the moment it’s a novelty but that will wear thin quickly. If they want to ‘mix’ up trials or competitive them they should look at random modifiers on a weekly basis, that would help with pushing people to change loadouts and subclasses. Be tricky to balance but at least it would mean variety of some form

1 ReplyGranting radar in a mode that has no radar would be far too advantageous. Everyone would run Knuckleheads in comp if that were the case. Terrible game design. Bungie painted themselves into a corner in this scenario. There really isn't a good solution to this problem aside from changing the helmet to have some other function in competitive mode that doesn't upset PvP balance - but that's very wishful thinking. Chances are they're just going to leave things as is.
