I've done some research and watched some videos... there seems to be no real answer as to what handling is in D2. It's not ADS speed, weapon movement, changing weapons, reloading, recoil. Please don't respond with something you think it might be or was in D1. I'm legitimately looking for a real answer from someone who works on or with Destiny 2.

Swapping speed. ADS speed. Basically it affects your ability to......"react" to an ever-changing battlefield.

Handling on certain weapons makes the weapon equip and take aim quicker.

I masterworked my Trials shotty and it has +10 handling and it feels a lot better but it might just be my imagination!

It's been shown with video evidence on youtube that it reduces the "flinch" of your reticle while being shot in D2 which is why it's become popular on masterwork weapons for pvp. Basically stability reduces your reticle's shake for outgoing shots, handling reduces shake of incoming shots if you want to think of it in simple terms. It also most certainly does affect weapon "ready" speed. Test it yourself by firing the Curtain Call rocket launcher which has abysmal handling and you'll notice there's a slight "pause" when bringing it up to fire and the time it takes for the rocket to actually launch. Sins of the Past or Atlantic is almost immediate in comparison as they both have high handling stats.

1 ReplySomeone said handling affects screen shake when you ADS. The higher the handling, the less screen shake while aiming and you're being shot at. I always thought it had to do with how fast you can ADS.

Weapon Handling is a stat that actively defines the Weapon Swap Speed. The higher the Handling, the faster you can swap to that weapon (it does not influence the time you need to swap to another weapon). In other words, you pull the weapon faster and it takes less time for the weapon to be "ready", means that you can shoot it. Passively, this stat also influences ADS time and Reload Speed, but that influence is very minor and almost not noticeable, unless you compare two extremes (very high vs. very low handling in the same weapon type). In Destiny 1, this was a hidden stat, but existed. In Destiny 2 it is now a visible stat, but there are less perk actively influencing it.

I thought it was ADS time.
