Destiny 2 PC Won't Launch

I bought and installed Destiny 2 through the blizzard app. After the game was fully installed and patched, I attempted to run it. The game attempts to run, shows up in task manager process list for a few seconds, then disappears. (then the play button on the blizzard app shows up blue again). The game attempts to run itself then closes. No error codes show up. note Game Version = 4186578. note *EDIT* I've been talking to blizzard dev's with no results yet. (I know it's not technically their game, but still.) I'm currently waiting on them to view my MSInfo and Dxdiag for further information. Should be soon. I'll let you all know if I find a solution. Here's a recap of my further attempts. - Deleted blizzard/battlenet cache files (no effect) - Game file scan and repair (no repairs needed) - Check for updates (no updates needed) - Relocating game files (no effect) - Running launch through admin and compatibility mode (no change) - Deleting my antivirus. (no effect) - Switching regions (no effect) - Disabling razer synapse (no effect) - Fresh reinstall of the game (no effect, same problems) - *NOTE* Still no error codes *NOTE* The game does not start up at all, it only attempts to. Ask for that step one, I can't find any temp/crash_folder under destiny 2, nor is there any appdata files on the game; so I'm not sure where to find the 'crash info." I Tried re-locating GFSDK_Aftermath_Lib.dll file to the main game folder, no effect. Same with oo2core_3_win64.dll, no effect. This is the only data log file I could find under programdata and battle net launcher pertaining to destiny 2. https://pastebin.com/RSpAaH3W *edit* I used the even viewer suggested by user 'm_w_h,' and I did find an error for an application under administrative events pertaining to destiny 2. This is what it the information reads. (i put it in a pastebin for cleaner reading). *edit* General https://pastebin.com/wr42fyTd Details https://pastebin.com/ee4MzRLD Additional note of information (because it might be relevant, I'm not sure). All of my other blizzard games launch and work fine, with no issues. (and yes my battlenet account is linked to bungie.net, verified and all) I recommend to anyone having problems, refund the game immediately. Bungie has no real customer support system, because they simply do not care. You will not get a proper response to your problem, believe me, I've tried extensively. I'd like to personally thank the Bungie team for being so un-reliant and useless. I find it abhorrent that activision blizzard would allow such a process knowing full well that Bungie has no real costumer support service. I would like to officially thank all of the Blizzard Game Masters for their help. I've attempted every which way I could to find a solution to my destiny 2 launch problem, however no progress has been made. I've posted on both the official bungie.net help forums, as well as the Technical Support Page they hold on reddit. No official bungie team members have responded, and the attempts made by the community, although very helpful and extensive, did not yield any solution. I know that Blizzard Entertainment is merely a by-standard in the midst of firing cross-hairs. Blizzard Entertainment is not to blame, and has been very helpful in attempting to find solutions toward my problems (a special thanks to game master Jehxtona). I have refunded the game through Blizzard, and I will never purchase another game under the name Bungie again. Going through all of their official forums, they have not responded to any crucial post, or any official pc bugs posted by users. They have no support ticket system, nor do they have a direct contact number, because they do no care. I suggest anyone having problems with Destiny 2 refund their game through Blizzard immediately. The more people that refund Destiny 2, the less free profit these neglectful idiots make. Thanks for being so useless Bungie. Sincerely, a refunder, good riddance. https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTechSupport/comments/7caqq9/destiny_2_pc_wont_launch/ https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/238048509?sort=0&page=0 https://us.battle.net/forums/en/bnet/topic/20759182362 "link to my older posts on tech support and bungie.net."

Not to poke around a dead horse but I keep noticing in these topics that the simplest and most common problem that might cause an app to do this isn't really brought up: corrupted dll's or bad hardware. So.. to save you the trouble of finding it elsewhere or the time it might take to randomly run into my other posts about this, try the following... be aware, there is nothing fast or easy about this kind of repair unless you're lucky and the first step gets it so this should be the last resort.

Ok so this is what I did to fix my problem. 1. Open up the destiny 2 folder. 2. Right Click on the Destiny 2 application. 3. Change the compatibility to Win7 4. And give Destiny 2 Admin Privileges. After doing the following I am able to click "Play" in the Blizzard App and it works.

    • I looked up how to fix the saxophone error and it fixed this problem. Open up the Destiny 2 files then right click on Destiny 2 Launcher>Properties>Compatibility> click on the box that says Run this program as an administrator, then click ok. Then do the same thing for Destiny 2 icon that says destiny2

    • I've been getting this for a few days now, sometimes it will randomly work so I don't shut it down all day when I get it to run. I checked in the Event Viewer and found this, there is an entry every time I try to launch the game and it doesn't run. Same here as of today. Version 4186578. No combination of any of the things you tried worked for me either. Deleted the cvars file in the userdata as well, nada. I'm in the process of reinstalling now but I highly doubt it'll work. This new patch screwed a bunch of us. I also reinstalled my nvidia drivers as well. Nope. Edit: I uninstalled and deleted all files related to Destiny 2. Reinstalled (fk Comcast and their data limits) and now I can play again. This is not ideal at all.

      • I got the same issue, too. NO ERROR CODE, just can't launch the game even directly execute Destiny2.exe from disk.

      • A lot of people are starting to have this problem, me included. I hope this will get enough attention from Bungie to get an update or fix. In the meantime I have messaged them and am waiting a response. Keep strong and find something to do while we wait.
