I had a big problem with 'ol Datto marginalizing everyone that doesn't like the new Nightfall timer system and basically telling them to deal with it and "git gud".
So I respond:
BigTexB007: Datto you are bitch. 90% of the player base doesn't make a -blam!-ing living playing a video game like you do. You and other content creators who have spent 10+ hours a day playing this Game are not the measuring stick that everyone else needs to follow.
And Datto Responds:
This is my opinion on the topic. If you want end-game, top level rewards, you should be expected to do top level, end-game content that is moderately difficult. I'm sorry that you think the pathetic 240 Nightfall has a ball-bustingly difficult timer, but it does not, even this week. I'm sorry that you can't just roll over the Nightfall anymore and have free loot thrown at you. I'm not going to agree with someone who says "remove the timer and replace it with nothing" because then we just get the exact same thing as Destiny 1, which was not hard at all. You wanna replace it with mechanics? You wanna replace it with bullet sponges? You wanna replace it with more majors? I don't care! Bungie isn't gonna throw mechanics into a strike, so that's out. People hate bullet sponges, that's out. People hate more majors, that's out. "Replace it with nothing." Fine, now you can get free raid loot, free trials loot AND free Nightfall loot for just logging into the game and being in a clan. I've yet to see a GOOD idea that keeps the difficulty of the Nightfall when replacing the timers, so if you have one, drop it here. I'm sorry that you actually need to think for a couple of minutes and plan a route through the Nightfall. Hell, I did a run yesterday of the normal Nightfall with someone who just hit 260 and has never ran the strike before, doing very little skipping at all: 6 minutes left on the clock. At some point, I think some people need to go, "maybe it's me?". End-game activity should be end-game effort. It's 15-20 minutes to get it done where you gotta focus once per week. Is that REALLY asking too much? REALLY? 15 minutes? But don't worry, because Bungie will succumb to the complaints of the masses and this shit will be nerfed by next expansion anyway, so you only need to deal with it for 3 months.

And I respond back to him and fanboys, but I won't put that whole correspondence here, it can be seen in the YouTube comments.
But someone on Reddit decides the post the interaction, WITHOUT posting my responses to Datto BTW.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/71i684/datto_replies_to_getting_called_a_bitch_after/
Apparently it's been there a little while, I just noticed it today. So I posted this reply:
Wow. I find it super hilarious my YouTube comment to Datto made it to Reddit. Although obviously the support shown here is because of Datto's reply to me. Funny.. OP didn't include my replies back.
Perhaps I was a bit harsh in calling Datto "a bitch". Maybe. Maybe not.
The part I took exception to was not the fact that Datto likes the nightfall or the new timer. I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with folks liking the new mechanic. None at all.
But, the fact is alot of people don't like this new timer mechanic. I sure as hell don't. And it has nothing to do with "challenge" or "difficulty". I don't like jumping through hoops, or searching areas for little Vex-ey looking boxes to shoot. It completely ruins the flow of the experience and is annoying as shit.
And that's where Datto crossed in a line in his video. He marginalized that whole group of people who don't like this mechanic as being whiners who don't like a challenge or change, and basically tells them to STFU and "Git Gud" in so many words.
THAT'S what I took exception to, and that's why I called him out. He finds it easy? No shit, he plays the game for a living. He finds the new "challenge" fun but can consistently overcome it? No shit, he plays the game for a living. He finds previous Nightfall styles boring and unchallenging? No shit he plays the game for a living. If he thinks he's the measuring stick for what's an "acceptable challenge" then he and his rabit fanboys can get bent.
In many of the replies on Datto's youtube page I'm inundated with folks sharing their lives with me about what they do and how much responsibility they have, and how even with all that they don't find this nightfall a challenge... how I need to STFU and "Git Gud". And that's fine. Sure, I can understand that.
But again, it's not really about challenge as to why I didn't like the last two nightfalls. It's because the timer modifier makes them an annoying chore when I'm supposed to be having fun shooting shit.
And besides that, I'm not talking to THOSE PEOPLE who don't make a living playing a video game. I'm TALKING TO THE PERSON WHO MAKES A LIVING PLAYING A VIDEO GAME HE'S GOT NO BUSINESS TELLING NORMAL PEOPLE THEY NEED STFU AND "GIT GUD".
In addition, Datto challenged me to tell him how I would change and I responded:
I read over the part where you call me out to suggest a GOOD idea. Here you go
1. Keep Nightfall Modifier. Wipe restarts the strikes and zeros out the score (but does not take you to orbit)
2. 30 minute timer with no add time mechanics such as "hoop jumping"
3. Strike Scoring
4. Tiered Rewards based on a final Nightfall Strike Score. Score takes into account fireteam deaths, enemies killed, precision kills, and final time left on strike
5. Actually FUN modifiers along with the shit ones that create artificial challenge.
Feels to me that'd address alot of concerns on alot of sides. True, the above may take some effort on Bungie's part... but hey just throwing a time constraint modifier is simply weak and lazy as shit.
And again, reading your second paragraph... you truly are a pompous video game elitist. YOU ARE NOT THE MEASURING STICK FOR THE CONSUMER BASE AT LARGE. YOU PLAY THIS GAME FOR A LIVING. I think you need to go "Maybe it's me?".
Anyways, just thought I'd like to share with my b.net friends some funny interaction... made more odd by the fact that it went off on YouTube and Reddit, but not here where I hang.
Still stand by my thoughts. And still think Datto can get bent sometimes.
EDIT: WOW. I put the kids to bed, wake up, go to work, take a late lunch and look at my Destiny app and suddenly I've got 312 notifications. Alot of shit talk too, fantastic. I'll get to you guys, don't you worry. May take a little while because many of you are quite zealous in tearing me a new one, but I'll do my best to reply to each and every one of you.
EDIT 2: Alright bitches, time to get some. It's on.
EDIT 3: Haven't seen ANYONE address my original point (beyond supporting it) that people like Datto, and other full time video game players who do this for a living, have no objectivity when identifying what makes an acceptable challenge for everyone when all they do is play the game all day. And really shouldn't talk shit to the Everyman for finding something difficult or unenjoyable when the video game lifer doesn't.
If Datto made a video stating why he likes the new timer system and showing support for it... I wouldn't have had any issue. At most, would've respectfully disagreed and stated why I don't like the timers. But that's not what happens... he goes on a tangent criticizing those who don't like it because they "don't like challenge" or "don't like change" or "want loot handed to them". That's bullshit.

You see the problem with this post is that in the video no once did datto say "stfu or git gud." He stated his opinion on why he liked the timer, went on to offer potential solutions, he actually did reference the community and some of their ideas, and then went on to talk about how he believed the nightfall was challenging. I personally hate the nightfall, and while datto is a great guide YouTuber, I'm not a "dattoine". He tells it like it is, and yeah while the new nightfall does kinda suck, I dislike it for the wrong reasons. I don't get the hate. I feel like alot of the community here just has a bone to pick or are Destiny loyalists. Datto is an elitist, sure whatever who cares? The video was professional and there's no need to go for his throat when he's telling the truth. We all got used to walking on high level content, and the moment bungie came up with the nightfall (which is trash yes) we all go after him? Who just happens to like the nightfall? I don't watch his videos anymore. but jeez I don't think I've ever seen such criticism against someone who's only giving his opinion a game everyone hates anyway.
-
The timer doesn’t add to the challenge one bit. The bigs do that just fine. I -blam!-ing hate the timer. I hate timed anything. I hate it when I’m told “ hey enjoy our game, but do it quick,we are timing you”
-
This is why I don't watch any gameplay or listen to these halfwits. These guys have no idea what my gaming experience is like. I have limited time to play because I have a real job and a real life and don't spend my whole day in front of the console. I could not care less about what they think about the game. They are completely useless.

33 RepliesEdited by Zenith: 9/28/2017 10:40:00 PMSeems for some unknown reason my reply was banned. *Looking at some ninjas* If this actually is still somewhere here, then do tell me how to find it as the 'Banned' in the url doesn't bode well I think. This is literally the most relevant reply to Tex's post. An actual response to your post. To your first statement, maybe it's a simple case of the OP of that Destiny subreddit post making the post before you responded on Youtube? I highly doubt s/he would've just sectioned you off. To your derogatory term: yes, yes you were. "I think the nightfall is the least egregious (I suggest googling if you don't know what it means) change that they could have done to the nightfall." - quoted from his video Here's where you go wrong. Yes, Datto did say he's a fan of the Nightfall because it now feels like an end-game activity. This, however, doesn't go hand in hand with the timer. No where, will you find Datto saying he likes the timer. So why do you say he does in your post? "...Datto likes the new Nightfall or new timer..." What you will find him saying is that the timer adds difficulty to the Nightfall, which is what he thinks it needs (and the majority of the community based on that reddit post) as an end-game activity. He has said he'd like it if the devs removed timers and replaced them with an equally challenging modifier that still made the Nightfall actually difficult, not a cakewalk like the D1 Nightfalls were. I respect your opinion about timers. No one I know likes them. Everyone dislikes them. They aren't challenging to me and like you said, they ruin the run and gun feel of the game. You wan to shoot aliens in the face. I get it. About how, "...he marginalized that whole group of people that don't like this mechanic as being whiners who don't like a challenge or change..." is not true. In his video, he didn't marginalize anyone. He simply stated that most of the complaints he saw we're people trying to steam roll the Nightfall like they would in D1 and skip through portions. And that most of the complaints are happening because of this drastic change to the Nightfall. In no way, is stating a reason as to why people are having complaints, is that being marginalizing. He told them to play smart (this is the 'git gud' part) and to change their play style because of the timer. Is telling people to get good considered marginalizing them? I'm using this quote again because it fits the next part well. "I think the nightfall is the least egregious change that they could have done to the nightfall." Do you not remember the complaints of how garbage D1 nightfalls were? How more majors, more enemies, enemies with more health, large burn modifiers meaning you could get one-shotted by many things, were such bad ideas for increasing difficulty? Do you not remember the back lash and complaints Bungie received? That's why there's been a change to the Nightfalls and how they work. Not only because the players hated them but also because Bungie disliked how players went about completing the Nightfalls (sitting back, sniping). That's why Datto goes on to say what people hate, "Bungie isn't gonna throw mechanics into a strike, so that's out..." (This being the fact that Bungie caters to the softcore player base and doesn't want their game to have many hardcore aspects in it; like actual mechanics) "...People hate bullet sponges, that's out. People hate more majors, that's out" not because he's telling you what to hate, he's telling you what the MAJORITY of the community has hated on in the past and will hate on again if it returns, thus meaning it's not an option for solving the problem of timers. No where, has Datto said he liked the timer for the Nightfall. No where has Datto told people to STFU. I don't know why you thought he did or where you thought he did. Maybe you just included it because it made him seem like more of the 'bad guy' that we should all hate; so that it could help prove your point that "Datto has no right to tell normal people how to play when he, a Youtuber, plays for 10+ hours a day" I can assure you, being a Youtuber doesn't mean you play a game for 10+ hours a day. There's a lot of work that goes into making good Youtube videos. But that's not the point and is a completely different argument we can have. My point is: Datto, like everyone else, has the right to tell people who complain right after change is brought into the game, to play smarter (get good) and slow down the pace when it really is as simple as that. AND you, my friend, are horrible at discerning what people say, absolutely horrible. Constructing false accusations and putting words into other peoples mouth. As for the whole measuring stick thing? It doesn't matter that he plays more than you, he still gets to have an opinion and voice his opinion, because it's America.

Literally all of these destiny youtubers are -blam!-ing losers who are on the brink of being homeless because they most entertain a dying game in a platform that gives them 0 revenue. Most of them suck balls in pvp and want you to like their outgoing personality when only 12 year old kids watch their videos consistently.
-
I'd bet that tubers posts would be more agreeable to yours and the masses posts if you'd only subscribe to their channel and throw some money their way. Lol

12 RepliesAll I can say is you must have got under Dattos skin pretty good for it to go this far. I don't see how he (or anybody else for that matter) can argue that the Nightfall is end game content when I can get the exact same drops from an HVT on patrol, destination chest, Lost Sector or damn near anywhere else in the game. Adding a timer is just the very least that Bungie could do to make it more challenging. And I do mean, the very least.
-
2 RepliesThey have to keep the timer, what would happen to rat king? That's probably why they won't change it
-
Datto must be skilled to play with all these people brown nosing him constantly.
-
10 RepliesDon't fret Tex... Datto and his puppet fanboys have all come here to lash out. They literally have nothing better to do than fluff their favorite streamer. Any idiot knows timers only take fun and enjoyment away. I also find it quite laughable that people actually care if someone sits back to chip away at enemies for an hour. How does that hurt them? It's not like their sitting in the Nightfall with them... LOL People are strange... quite toxic as well when it comes to their fanboy.

10 RepliesEdited by WINTER PROPHET: 9/28/2017 12:53:59 PMDATTO is a shill. Once his popularity for using a calculator took off at the beginning of D1, his head inflated. And it's a fact he isn't honest about the game, he avoids any topic that 100% shows Bungie lies or messes up. He sticks to the GREY area topics and owns the monopoly on "I can see why Bungie does blah blah blah. He's a coat tail rider. When/if any community share info or topics with him, he refuses to credit that contributor with credit for anything they supply him. In other words if anybody shares important info with him, he makes his video and says..."Somebody let me know...", or "I found out the other day". In other words he doesn't have the genuine morality to credit OTHERS for anything they do that leads to a topic. He simply takes it, credits no one, and strokes himself for it. As opposed to Rodey Bros and Pretty Good Gaming, who LITERALLY CREDIT COMMUNITY when they contribute, Datto doesn't credit anybody. Unless it's his fellow Youtubers due to content infringement. So yea, TURD. Lastly, he treats community like sh*t. During a live stream when a viewer inquired "HOW did you get the game to work?" he replied sarcastically "Um... I turned it on?". The viewer was asking for help because the game had launch issues, and he simply treated him like sh*t. I exited the stream and went "he was asking for help DlCK". Any of the "Dattoines" (his followers) are not worth getting bothered by. And Datto himself is headed for the gutter trash anyway based on his morals and ethics on how he runs his channel. Edit: regarding HOW his little "sucklings " are copying/pasting without being legit about it, it's obvious the little cowards wanna re-write history. If they aren't walking life in your shoes, f'm. I've known you a long time on here and you've always been one to correct the genuine mistreatment of community. In Dattos case, his followers "like to be mistreated and talked down to" by little boys like Datto.

2 Replieswhat the... I'm not gonna read all this

Datto and that Khackis guy are self absorbed tools... Id rather watch JMP videos with chicken noises.
-
Not flaming or hating - Just stating my two cents worth. I know neither of you guys also, but after the new raid dropped and I started to realize how bad it was. The night falls were my only challenge. Nothing was like the old raids and could to care to run gauntlets and dogs week in week out. I'm bored of the raid and prestige night falls are the only thing I keep coming back for........
-
1 Replyhow about this: theres a somewhat less strict time limit with no annoying "earn time" mechanic and is just a higher base time, and a score that you have to get. if you complete the score, you get 1 drop, if you beat the timer you get 1 drop. do both and get 2. deaths subtract score. this promotes playing with skill instead of skipping, but the less strict time limit promotes not staying back and slowly pushing. also, datto is an asshole elitist who should come up with a better argument than "git gud"
-
No one I know likes the nightfall timer. I’d rather them make it harder and remove the timer
-
1 ReplyI'm not a fan of the timer but to be far I rate his channel, it not full of click bait and bs. He also isn't an elist in my view because he has posted good guides every week for nightfall, one of which got me through it. He also did a video explaining his views on why he likes the timer. I hated the timer too but he has a point t about end game not being to easy.
-
3 Replies"BigTexB007: Datto you are bitch." Stopped reading after this. Pretty much the most immature way to start off a conversation. Takes a lot of intellectual ability to open with that.
-
3 RepliesThe game isn't fun anymore. That's the real argument. Video games should always be fun at their core. Bungie has lost sight of this.
-
1 ReplyNot hard at all? Must not have done omnigul with arc burn, or the shield brothers with solar burn, both of those were ridiculously tedious.
-
I just hate being timed on anything video game related. It's not fun. It's not challenging. It's -blam!-ing annoying.
-
Datto doesn't need to make a video staring why the timer is fair. He's not some higher being he's just a dude that plays destiny and happens to be good at it. He can voice his opinion if he wants and you can too just don't expect the "common man" to rally with you against the "elitist" who state their opinions. I am in no way a pro I go to college and work a full-time job and yet me and my clanmates finished this week's night fall with seven minutes and last week with around six. Not sure if you honest to God can't finish the nightfall or are just trying to make a stir but if your in xbox we can help you if needed. If not no big deal but for me I like the timers makes the nightfall more interesting.

1 ReplyEdited by WhatizLifeBro: 9/28/2017 5:54:14 PMI don't like Datto tbh but I'd have to agree with him. You sound like you just don't like the timer in general due to preference and you're using "poor ole ordinary folk" as a way to prop up your argument. I'm from the Dark Souls community so if you can't do it then try harder...or GTFO. If a noob who works all day can't get it done then he can keep trying until he gets it and it becomes easy(like anything in life) or he can quit. If you want to argue that the timer sucks the fun of it then fine but to argue against it as if you're backing the little man is absolute bullshit.

38 RepliesEdited by Zenith: 9/26/2017 10:56:56 PMJust so you know, I was watching his stream a few nights ago when this popped up and he talked about it. A huge debate started in the Twitch chat with people bitching about the timers. He then ran a No-Sparrows run of the nightfall with 7:30 left on the clock. The chat then started calling him a 1% elitist, so he took it further. No Sparrows, didn't skip killing a single enemy, and even stopped to do a Heroic Spire Integration in Exodus Black just to prove the point that the timer isn't a big deal. He finished that run with 3:30 on the clock and asked anyone if what he did was top tier gameplay. He died a ton of times like anyone else would. This is pulled off directly from reddit but still applies as I was a viewer like the guy who originally posted this on reddit was. 2 RepliesEdited by gallp13: 9/27/2017 3:19:53 PMHi Tex, Read this post again and it got old gallp thinking......why would you post this here when it's already on Reddit? You don't seem like the sort of chap who is looking for cheap notoriety......
