I took two evenings, grinding out chests on IO for the Gensym helmet. Four hours each evening before finally getting it. The second evening I actually tested it, after finding the "bugged" chests only happened when I would find multiples quickly. And that's what I found. 4 chests in 5 minutes. Also, lost sectors twice in five minutes. You can also test it for yourself. The lost secotr is the easiest to test. Because you can walk right out and walk right back in.
