If Xivu Arath was brought back through warfare and Savathûn was brought back through scheming... will we bring back Oryx through exploring and inquiring?
Are all our efforts at uncovering lore and ancient history actually beckoning the First Navigator?

1 ReplyNothing can bring him back. Also he may not be able if it was possible. I remember it being stated that if I die it shall be to my worm. He broke that promise.

Edited by Hellfire: 9/3/2017 10:28:40 PMBasically, Eris has a role to play with oryx. The fact that his sword's Crystal is still alive might mean something. The sisters were rezerected when a hive partcipated in the acts they represented. I think it was War, and Trickery. The fact that oryx was the taken king, might mean there was someone above him. He was not the King of the Taken. - - - - - We should be fighting an ahamkara in a future raid. In addition its not clear if the dragon is a wyrm, or the leviathan is a worm. No, because their deaths were different. See, the Sword Plane is a separate dimension from ours, one where Sword Logic takes the place of physics. This is the general Hive Netherrealms. Hive Throne Worlds are smaller segments of the greater Sword Plane, a section where suitably powerful Hive have their soul tethered to it so it can only be completely killed there. Xivu Arath and Savathun were killed in the general Sword Plane, not their personal Thrones. Since it still occurred in the Sword Plane its a 'true death' but their souls still go back to the Thrones where they await the power they need to leave again. When Oryx performed those specific things related to their spheres, it gave them the spark they needed, and they regained corporeal form. Oryx however was killed within his actual Throne, meaning the death is one he cant come back from, at least not like his sisters did. With all that said, he still exists in small and broken form within the Touch of Malice. a shard of him is attached to the Ravenous Heart, the weapon's power source, allowing him to still exist, even if neither alive nor conscious. He planned to achieve pseudo-immortality by attaching that shard to his killer, assuming the killer became Taken King after him. So its possible a being created from Oryx's remains will come about whenever someone actually becomes Taken King, but Oryx himself has no real known avenue of resurrection.

Did you get the spinmetal from the plaguelands? I think the nanites are getting to you if so...
-
2 RepliesUm... so... we made the Touch of Malice through the Books of Sorrow... which he edited personally... according to him. We... UNDERSTOOD him... so that in of itself should be enough to start the process of revival. Just need a few more sacrifices...
-
4 RepliesNo. Xivu Aarath and Savathun didn't die in their own throne worlds, so them being brought back was always a possibility. Oryx died in his throne world (which was contained inside the Dreadnaught), so he should be dead for good.
-
I can only see it happening if someone is using Touch of Malice and messing around in the Dreadnought, afterall the Dreadnought interior is Oryx's throne world. Reunited with his worm he could be re-made.

We fight oryxs sister in a strike thats pretty cool im looking forward to oryx return down the line
-
1 ReplyXivu Arath and Savathun were brought back because they were not permanently killed, just driven deep into their Throne Worlds. Oryx was slain in his Throne World, while Xivu and Savathun were killed in Oryx's Throne World, and not in their own. Oryx is never coming back. Maybe as a phantom or an Echo or even a memory, but never as what he used to be.
-
Oryx isn't dead. Oryx lives in all of us. Let the darkness touch you.
-
He is dead. Killed in his throne world means DEAD.
-
I wouldn't go as far as saying his physical presence would be available, but his soul yes. I would be willing to bet the Vex would have a special interest in this as well.
-
3 RepliesThey died in oryxs' throne world not their own. They even say they were pushed back deep into their own after oryx killed them.
-
Wait, then wouldn't Crota be back already? Why would they be mourning him. I'm pretty sure that xivu and Sava were killed outside their throne world. We kill oryx in his throne world like we did with Crota so he's dead.

12 RepliesIt's been leaked. We know what happens.
-
Well, we would have to want it to happen, so even if the situation was actually the same - which it isn't because we didn't take all of Oryx's power for ourselves via the sword logic - probably not.

5 RepliesI have made preparations. If I am defeated I know it will be because my understanding of the universe was incomplete. I failed to anticipate some strategy, some nemesis. (Perhaps Taox, if she still lives.) If I am defeated, I know that I will fall to something mighty. Something that craves might, something that loves what I love, which is the Deep, a principle and a power, the versatile, protean need to adapt and endure, to reach out and shape the universe entirely for that purpose, to mutate and redesign and test and iterate so that it can prevail, can seize existence and hold it, certain that this is everything, that there is nothing to life except living. And it has two faces, yet it is one shape. One face is the objective, which is obvious, and the other face is that will to sacrifice things and ideas for a single mission, the mission of becoming the shape, a shape that will not relent, the utter commitment to survival, to draw the right sword and choose where to cut: to allow this hunger to become your weapon. So I will prepare a book, which is a map to a weapon. And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going. And then they will take up my weapon, and they will use it, they will use that weapon, which is all that I am. And armed thus with my past, and my future, and my present (which is a weapon, a weapon that takes whatever is available, a weapon bound to malice), they will mantle me, Oryx, the Taken King. They will become me and I will become them, each of us defeating the other, correcting the other, alloying ourselves into one omnipotent philosophy. Thus I will live forever. I’ll make sure. -Oryx The Taken King

Everyone grab your spin foil hat. Time for some conspiracy theories.

2 RepliesI just realized that if there's no spinmetal in D2, D2 noobs won't understand when we say spinfoil hat. Poor guys.
-
2 RepliesI believe it is possible that Oryx could be brought back if one of his sisters does some of that knowledge seeking, but us Guardians can't bring him back Honestly hoping he might have some form of come back or at least effect on the future of Destiny since he is the greatest being and biggest enemy to ever exist in Destiny's history
-
3 RepliesPeople keep saying we killed him in the throne room, but did we actually go check to make sure he was dead? He floated off into space and then we left. Not to mention with the tower being attacked Touch of Malice was most likely destroyed. Which means Oryx's soul is probably free again.
-
3 RepliesIf we killed Oryx in his throne world, then why is Saturn in the back ground during the final battle?
-
1 ReplyI think it would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool if we went to Saturn's core and found Oryx's worm hanging out, and it was a raid boss. I'm not sure if Guardians can resurrect Hive, though. Who knows.
-
3 RepliesOryx could only bring his sister's back because they were not in their throne's when he killed them. Read XXVI Star by star in the book of sorrow's. He killed them in his own throne so they were able to retreat to their's and wait for Oryx to bring them back.
-
8 RepliesWe killed him in his throne world, deaths of hive in a throne world are permanent. Sorry bud.
