What's the level cap for the base game?
Hey, I was wondering what the level cap for the base game of Destiny was as I remembered hearing something about it being 20 but my experience has stopped going up after level 34. I do not own the expansions because this is a three year old game with a sequel coming out in a few months and frankly I'm broke so.

The level cap is 34 for vanilla now. I never played destiny and have a bunch of friends wanting me to start 2 with them, so i picked up vanilla for 4 bucks at gamestop to get an idea if i liked it. I can't get any xp at all once hitting 34 and my weapons/subclasses can't get xp either.

You need the expansions to do like anything, and you can get the base game with all of them for 60 bucks (30 on sale).

Why on gods earth do you even bother with the base game?

It started at 20. You could get up to 30 with light points added. Back then they were logical. Because you could use white weapons with high level armor and still do great. It was wonderful for promoting use of weapons that weren't exotics and legendaries. Now they are all just junk that you see one random streamer showing off

2 RepliesYou actually still have true endgame content in Base. You can at the least do the Vault of Glass. If you have House of Wolves, you can do PoE to get max level gear for Y1

30 for vanilla 32 for dark below 34 for house of wolves 40 for taken king and rise of iron

In vanilla the level cap was 20 and you could get to 30 with light level. By end of year one the light level max was 34 and with Taken King the base level was raised to 40 and they changed the light level system to be what it is now.

3 RepliesComplete break down of lvl caps throughout Destiny Base game: lvl 20 from Xp gains then up-to 30 with complete Vault of Glass raid armour set Dark below : Crota's End armour set pushed cap to 32 House of wolves: Prison of elders gear pushed cap to 34 Taken king allowed you to level xp up to 40 but introduced a light cap of 310 (320 after hard mode kingsfall dropped) The April update(ttk) pushed that up lvl 40 & 335 light Then Rise of Iron made max lvl 40 & 400 light.

Base game was 20, but with raid armor you could make it 30, Dark Below with raid armor maid it 32, and HoW with upgraded armor made it 34

Honestly man, just preorder Destiny 2 and wait it out. D1 without TTK and Rise of Iron will be awful. D2 beta comes out in under 3 months :)

34 if you dont own TTK. it used to be level 20 and then you had light level that went to 30 for vanilla, 32 for TDB and 34 for HoW

4 RepliesLevel 34 is the cap for the base game now. (Was originally 20 for exp levels and everything after that required legendary gear)

It was 30 on vault of Glass time, it rise up to 32 on crota time, and finally when HoW came it was raised to 34, when they change the level system for the light level was raised to 40 just before oryx arrive
