I created this poll because it amuses me to hear all your stories of how you beat Oryx challenge mode with your fireteam being only at 305- & then saying to "git gud"
It also enlightens me to see people help other guardians with the raids no matter their light level
But it infuriates me to see people telling other people that light level =/= skill
On the contrary, light level = skill IN MOST CASES meaning not all the time!
Shows how much you put into the game
Your luck may be big but your completions are a result of your success in RNG & this game, & with that I tip my hat to your high light level!
You might be incredibly good at this game & even if you're a level 1 you could destroy a level 40, cool. Great. Awesome. Happy for you.
Talk is talk.
There's absolutely no way to determine someone else's skill in this game.
The closes thing we have to proof is your light level & grimore score.
So please, unlucky guardians who have "true skill"
Don't bash on people who want only 319+ in their raid.
There's plenty of people on these forums willing to help you!
Just scroll down & see what I mean!
Look at all the stories they will tell you on how they invited a 300 & he was better than a 320, I'm sure that guardian can help you!
Good day!

-
318+ or you're not raiding with me
-
1 ReplyYeah but if someone is 240 light it will matter in the raid
-
light level =/= skill, but it does equal a kind of understanding of where you are, what you have etc. like if a 315 joined my raid, I know that he has done atleast part of the raid a few times, I expect him to know stuff. if a 280 joined my raid, I know that they are probably haven't done the raid yet

Nah, soloed VoG when I was lvl 4 1/2 with the khvostov

But it infuriates me to see people telling other people that light level =/= skill On the contrary, light level = skill in most cases.
This is where I had to stop reading. Light level absolutely does not equal skill. Unless you are extremely lucky in RNG, light level equals experience. With the reward system the way it is, you will gain higher light organically just by playing the game long enough. Experience is what you have done (represented in this game by your light level), skill is what you can do. My good friend just started playing the game a little over a month ago and already has a 294 Titan. He has done 0 raids, completed his first Nightfall last week, only completed a handful of heroic strikes for engrams, and spent a really long time getting to rank 5 iron banner. If his W/L, K/D, and DTR don't convince you of his skill level, he'll be the first to tell you he sucks at this game. He actually just plays "for the fun of the game". He is the perfect example of someone who can grind losses all the way to great rewards. And if the 310 ghost, 319 greaves, and 308 helmet are any indication, it's working. I don't mean to take away the accomplishments of high light guardians; you all earned every piece of equipment you got just as my friend did. I'm also certain many high light guardians are quite skilled, but there are a number of low light guardians that are also quite skilled - just not yet as experienced.

I'm 320 and you can die as easily as a 310 in Kings fall raid. However I can do a ton more damage than a 310.

This shit is bananas B an an an

I have soft requirements for Light levels. If I've never played with the person before and they're confident enough to go into the raid at their current Light level, by all means I'll accept them. I have fairly high tolerance for people so long as they can hold their own. In my book: Skill > Light Level
-
Normal: 295+ Hard: 310+ Those are usually my requirements
-
2 RepliesOnly in kings fall but it is my business who i let in my team
-
15 RepliesLight level signifies experience. Fact.
-
3 RepliesLight matters to a point depending on the skill of the player. I've cleared Oryx HM quite s few times (challenge mode once) with a 5 man team. If people are able to adapt and take on more than just their personal job during the raid amazing things happen
-
2 RepliesIt matters...but to a point. If you're sub 310, you can still beat Hard Oryx--strong players can deal, but weaker may require some assistance from teammates (or just use the bad no knight strat). In vanilla with VoG, we were beating hard at level 28/29 because none of us got the drops for 30; CE, easily doable with levels who were one or or even three lower so long as the sword bearer was at cap. I'd say 35 PoE is probably the hardest under level, and only because you have a team of three, you have less slack for mistakes. This has been my experience at least.

VAULT OF GLASS NORMAL MODE AT ORACLES NEED 1 MORE! MUST BE ON PS4 WITH MIC, 18+ MATURE ADULTS ONLY, MUST HAVE EQUIPPED ATHOEN KILL EMBLEM AND AT LEAST 329 LIGHT. YEAR 1 GALLY NOT REQUIRED BUT.YOU WILL BE KICKED IF YOU DONT HAVE IT
-
Light does indeed matter for the KF raid but it does not necessarily signify skill. Some players may have gotten lucky in terms of RNG and recieved high level light drops in the first try. While others may have raided several times and gotten crappy loot. Its hard to determine skill by just looking at someone. You could go through all their stats pvp and pve, but do you really have that much time?
-
It matters a hell of a lot more than in iron banner
-
1 Reply"Only in kings fall"? Lol try killing atheon with 10 light...
-
5 RepliesDoesn't really matter. I took my 288 Hakke Auto in Oryx and still do some damage (only switch when facing shade)
-
1 ReplyNo, start raiding at level 1.

1 ReplyBump!

1 ReplyIt's always a factor not for skill but damage for example hard raids the enemies change levels at each part in ALL raids I've had plenty of low levels stay in the crystal room on crota stay behind a rock at Atheon and sit on platforms at oryx that's nothing new. That being said I was the only 27 in a hard Atheon raid with only the hawkmoon and blue gear and I became one of the strongest raiders that clan ever had. Give everyone a chance let them prove how good they are. It was once said by my friend "I'd rather take mez at level 27 then 3 level 30's into VOG" it's all about skill light level is a factor in damage percentage though.
