What exactly is a sherpa

I had this question in my mind. I thought it was a helpful person. A guy who helps the weak without any question. Nope. Oxford dictionary said: Did anyone notice what a sherpa is? Just for the curious few Sher·pa ˈSHərpə/ noun a member of a Himalayan people living on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, renowned for their skill in mountaineering. informal a civil servant or diplomat who undertakes preparatory political work prior to a summit conference. Update 11/12/2015 is where they called us sherpas. I love climbing mountains and living on the borders of Tibet and Nepal. I also love doing political work prior to a summit conference. Just a normal day in my life. Edit: oxford dictionary definition not urban dictionary definition

      • Sherpa are mountain people who are more at ease in the high altitude and rough terrain. They offer services to patrons who want to climb peaks. Tenzing was Sherpa to Edmund Hillary. They are known for carrying the luggage of their patrons :) too, hence the term carrying.

      • Someone who believes they're better than others because they've chosen to use their excessive free time to run raids with people who are afraid to join up with random groups.

        • Denotation vs. Connotation. By strict definition, yeah, a sherpa is what you've written, but it means more than that in colloquial conversation. Sherpas irl help people climb mountains, sherpas in Destiny help people get through raids. The term sherpa is often used for a person helping someone else through something difficult.
