I think it's desperate and attention seeking. No one cares if you have a girlfriend.
It's just a cry for attention. "Oh look at me, I'm not a nerd! I have a girlfriend!".
Some guy on my friends list recently SENT A MESSAGE TO ALL FRIENDS saying:
"Check out my bio." And it said "My girlfriend is cute and sexy, so I guess she's the one. :)"
*But I corrected the grammar and spelling*. And this guy is about 20, he's basically telling everyone to see he has a girlfriend and show that he's 'not a loser'.
Ok, so what is your opinion on this? If you have some kind of reason for doing so, then please do explain.
Ok, I changed the title a bit, now it's discussions and opinions...yeah...

It's the nerd cry of dominance.
Posted by: Max2107 I have my wedding date as my motto, is that a desperate act of attention, no. I put that as little token to her, she sees how much of a hobby gaming is to me, by putting or referencing a small fact like that to her shows her that she is more important than my hobby.
We all know why you really have the date in your motto. Just so you dont forget your anniversary xP Just kidding x)

The only way I could see this as the right thing for the guy to do is only if the girl is only a "trophy wife" to him. And if that's so, he has some larger problems. [Edited on 12.11.2008 1:10 PM PST]

I haven't seen many guys who included their girlfriends in their bios, but if they did I would probably think no less of them, unless it was in an attention seeking way. Now girls on the other hand.... nearly every girl on Xbl that I've seen has some kind of "I was a lost sock but now I've finally find my match" sort of thing going on in their bios. smily added for extra friendliness. :) [Edited on 12.11.2008 12:55 PM PST]

Maybe he just likes her? You're looking too far into it and being a miserable Scrooge. Scrooge!
Posted by: CHRISLY0NZ UK Well that's fine. That's something completely different. Everyone remember, this guy sent a message to all friends to show off...maybe it's just him and he's a bit of an idiot that has influenced me...Hmm...
I agree, showing it off brings up questions of truthfulness. After re-reading my post it sounded a little aggressive, it was not meant to be aggressive, my apologies if it was taken the wrong way.

I don't really see the point in putting something like that in a bio, because who the hell will actually believe it? Plus we don't know him so we can't care about his relationships either.

meh. Tis the internet. Let them fools ponce around.

Can you really blame someone for being happy? If it really bugs you that much then just remove him from your friends list.

My guess, They are probably young and this is their first girlfriend. Once you get older you don't care as much. People do the same thing with their kids.
Posted by: Mongoose 001 I don't think it's very bad. (No, not in that way.) I used to have you on my friends list, but removed you because we never played, heh. Your bio is okay, and your girlfriends name is Yam, heh. It is just the people who show off their girlfriends that are annoying. To guy above, I'm not jealous. When I had a girlfriend, even though I was a bit immature back then, I didn't put her name in my Xbox Live details for everyone to see, and I thought everyone else who did so (in a vulgar way) was annoying. So who gives a -blam!- what someone else does, they have the right to do whatever they want, just ignore him.

Overcompensation. If they get that worked up over having a girlfriend, she's probably the first one he's had in awhile and she's probably a whale. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. To clarify: it's not a big deal that he puts it in his bio, while I think it's a little lame, it's not a problem. What's dumb is that he feels the need to send a MTAF about it. Then again, pointless MTAFs are one of my XBL pet peeves. I could understand if he just got engaged or something. [Edited on 12.11.2008 12:35 PM PST]
