Not that I don't like the design, but it seems very different from what the typical Marine wears. Even the ODST's have dark visors. You would think for tactical reasons, something so bright just begs for a headshot, but maybe that's just me. If you had the chance to design a color scheme for the Chief, what would it be? Or do you think it should stay green and gold?

The colour of the chiefs armour is very similar if not identical to the olive green drab camo worn by US soldiers in the second world war and I think also vietnam. As for the visor it looks like its orange to filter out bright lights, like a glare fiter strip on a car windshield? [Edited on 10.20.2008 11:12 AM PDT]

Cause (my dad always said the same sort of thing for films (the scriptwriter said so):P) the Programmer said so. -Goldie643-

Military green. Like on tanks and stuff. forest camo. gold visor to deflect sun's rays. he's in space at times, you know.
-
Cause the Master Chief doesn't need camo. He would still pwn brutes and the flood if he were wearing a glowing pink suit!
-
Astronauts have a film of gold on their visors. The gold reflects the suns rays. Without the gold in their visors, the UV rays would blind them and burn their skin. MJOLNIR armor is space-capable. A gold visor is neccesary. Its a lot more practical than yalls speculations.

they probally made it gold and green b/c they were looking for something new idk whatever it was it's pretty sweet

Well as long as Chief isnt a blend of Brown, Pink, Yellow, and Grey (like some hideous pair of sneakers) then I really dont mind what color he is. HB

I think It would look badass with dark urban camo and ofcourse Heavy tinted visor. Or just blacvk on black.
-
green and gold

I don't know, but one thing I have noticed during Halo 3's campaign is that the Chief's armour blends in quite nicely with most backgrounds, whether this is because of the shading and light effects in campaign I'm not sure, but ultimately it isn't too bad of a camo all things considered. The only thing I don't have a clue about is the bright gold visor, although from reading the books it seems that the polarity can be changed so maybe the Chief uses a high polarity setting to hide his face.

Maybe the green to camouflage in the wilderness, and the gold to let friendlies know not to shoot at him?

And actually, would be sweet if you thought of it this way-Does anyone know about the "transition" perscription glasses that get dark when you go outside? Well what if Master Cheif's suit was forest camo, but changed into snow or desert camo whenever he stepped into that kind of environment? Win HB

If you read Fall of Reach, you know that Mjolnir armor has the ability to polarize its visor. When it's 0% polarized, it's completely clear. When it's 80%-100% polarized, it's gold. I believe Bungie uses that mechanism to keep the Master Chief's face a secret.

it could be some kind of materia stronger then the odst's viser. he is a spartan after all.

Cause it looks cooler, duh!
-
id stick with green camo and have a purple visor:P
-
Well, I'm guessing that it has to do with better visibility. Golden colored ski visors are usually the most well rounded in various situations. Would you prefer to have a dark visor at night? chances are not. Also, the Golden visor filters the least amount of light, but mostly the sun's so you get a truer color, and less harsh sun rays. Headshot target? Relax, you're Master Chief.

Green armour and a darker green visor.
