I have been reading up and after playing some games I can say forsure its my controller bugging out. Sprint is unpredictable and will sprint like normal, or will stop after 2 feet. Leading to constant mashing of L3 and the death of my thumb.
Just wondering who has delt with Sony's customer service and what it would look like to mail it out. Anyone had this problem try to fix it?

Pull up on the left stick. It'll move slightly. Seemed to work for me.

I mean, I have five controllers and they all have the same problem (one bought 2 months ago specifically for this reason) so I'm not buying another one. I shouldn't have to buy a new controller every 2 months to be able to run on destiny. What the actual f*** is that about...

Edited by SpongyMallard7: 4/16/2015 7:48:59 PMMy ps3 controller does the same thing. It's old and I got it used though. I had to stop playing because my hand started hurting. I opened up mine and cleaned it out, that fixed it for a little while. Be very careful. It took me around an hour to put it back together after making a few mistakes.

the fact of the matter is ps4 and ds4's are poorly built.

this happened to me on 3 different controllers. After my ps4 stopped reading discs i gave up hope that my hardware would ever work properly and went and bought an xbox one and sold my playatation. $400 for the ps4 and an extra $180 for buying 3 new controllers. the sprint, and also some time down the line your right trigger will mess up because if you open your controller you'll see the right trigger looks broke, but thats how they come. compare to the left trigger tho and it looks as if the right trigger has a piece broke off.

3 RepliesOn dualshock 4 I have this same error. It basically doesn't recognise you have the stick fully in the up position, to move forward ( or does so for a few seconds, then reverts ). This is from wear and tear. Does it mean it's poorly made? Not really, for what it does. I've read the sticks are capable of sending info to the system a lot better than dualshock 3's... Is this realised in any game? No. Because the programming on most developers part is too basic. The last game to have extremely responsive controls, on console, was Modern Warfare 2. It's all in the programming. So... I guess you could complain about it being poorly made, although it wouldn't be accurate. It would be the same as complaining about firing a minigun for 10 minutes, then having it fail. Then stating " but the weapon I had before this lasted more than 10 minutes "... And the previous weapon being a M16. TL;DR get a new controller, look online for a home fix.

Also I have no problem with mine and I got it around Christmas.

Probably a factory defect or something if the controler is new. Anyone having the same problem probably had their controler come from the same factory batch as yours.

My controller that came with my ps4 has the same problem. It started doing that when my ps4 was barely a year old. Also, the rubber material on the stick has mostly came off. It got to the point where some games were unplayable because of that left stick. I think the controller is just poorly put together. I had to buy a new controller and I think it's only a matter of time before it ends up like my old one.

4 RepliesNot had a problem with my ps4 controller. Destiny does bug out when you stop running and start again (it's not cooldown as its to unpredictable)

This happened to me with my controller that came with my day 1 Playstation 4. It started after a few months of using it for COD Ghosts. While I did not contact Sony, I brought it to GameStop and the guy said that they aren't suppose to replace it, but luckily for me they did anyways. When did you get the controller? From what I've heard, this only really happens with a few of the day one controllers. Most other controllers work perfectly; since my initial one broke, I have two others that work fine and have no issues.
