idk if it's just me but it's annoying when trying to melee and your throwing knife comes out. I think it would be smart to switch button functions for that OR make it a choice like in your inventory to carry grenades or throwing knife on hand. that's just me. comment on what you feel 😁

1 ReplyUhhhhh....... It won't throw your knife if your in melee range it will melee.....
-
I agree, I always waste it.
-
Nah its fine :)
-
4 RepliesI think it's just fine. The real problem I see is that the throwing knife is way too enjoyable to have a cool down that long! I love it, but I usually miss but even if I do I still have to wait a long time to throw another one.
-
1 Replythrowing knife is the same as melee so why does it matter as long as you are pointed at the target. My real problem is that the titan and warlock melee boosts reset immediately if they miss where as the hunters knife doesn't. I accidentally throw my knife more often than i would like to admit lol.

To everyone yelling yea hold the button, yea switch it with grenade... what the FUK is wrong with you!! 1: holding the button Ya'll never play pvp. There is simply NO TIME to hold the f' ing button to throw a knife. That Titan is holding a gun and is aiming for your head! You shot at him, but he would not die. Then you see the little split on his head armor, this little peephole. You grin and grab your knife and sling it into that hole with everything you have. HEADSHOT! Instant satisfaction people. You need to hold that button, the titan takes aim as you slowly slide the knife out of your sleeve, you check of it's the gray one, you love the gray one. You raise your arm to throw the knife and all of a sudden you blink and look at the sky just long enough to hear the Titabn laugh and see his foot coming down on your face... you are dead you slow fuk. 2: change it with a nade, the warlock did not notice your grenade and the blast filly hits him. You grin and start turning around but then you notice... he is NOT DEAD! His health is flickering on your HUD. He starts to prepare a Nova bomb, you know it, you recognize it. You quickly grab for your throwing knife and it whistles through the air, stopping in his eye socket. The warlock falls to the ground and thh energy around him dies out. Changed it out. You see the warlock, he did not notice you when the knife starts flying. It hits him in the side of his neck. He staggers but to your horror he is not dead. Your gasp alerts him to your presence. He jumps up and prepares a Nova bomb, you know it, you recognize it. In panic you turn around and try to jump away. TOO LATE! Terrible energy is wrecking your body. You scream but their is no sound. You are dead. Think again maddafakkaaaaaas

I disagree completely I think it's fine the way it is
-
3 RepliesI was thinking it should be tap for melee and hold for throwing knife
-
Why are you punching air?
-
5 RepliesI'd prefer not to have to click the button that's controlling the way I'm facing. Accidents happen and my fingers slip. Rather take the risk of losing my often useless throwing knife and leave it on same button but set it up so "if" you hold the melee button you can aim the tk or if you press it you use tk or you accidentally lunge knife. Don't really mind wasting tk. Gonna have issues either way. I'd prefer the one that guarantees a hit.
-
Yeah a system like cod had would be good. Clicking r3 for melee and r1 for the throwing knife.
-
Ohhhh yea I screw up alll the time with that. Either I try to knife to early and miss the throwing knife or I go to finish with a stab and a teammate kills them and I waste a T.K.
-
I agree completely, I feel like the throwing knife on the melee button is strange, perhaps a different button would work better, what I dont know, but Ive gotten myself killed a few times in the Crucible being dumb and throwing my knife when Im trying to melee in the heat of the moment.
-
I'm happy the way it is, but it could be made an option to satisfy everyone. ;)

Edited by theXman991: 7/24/2014 7:39:53 PMI agree that there should be a way to distinguish when you want to melee or throw your knife. I like the idea of holding the button to throw and tapping to melee.

2 Replies*blinks* I just logged in my hunter on both the PS4 and PS3 versions to check this. If you melee any enemy while your knife-throw is up... and your melee attack connects... YOU DO NOT LOSE THE KNIFE THROW: IT REMAINS CHARGED So, I'm left with one of two conclusions to make. The first is that you are playing an Xbox version and have encountered a bug. Congratulations. Retag this thread with the #bug hashtag. The second conclusion would be that you are hitting the melee button... and missing... in a game that actually goes out of it's way to auto-target melee hits in. (if you are off center from the target and melee the system will still connect) Which... I hesitate to use the phrase I've seen used a lot around here to describe the feedback... but it just seems so appropriate: Maybe you just need to "git good"

Double tap would fix the problem, and save me wasting the melee override on a pawn, valid point
-
2 RepliesEdited by SHYST: 7/24/2014 5:34:32 PMthere is a perfectly good D-Pad that can be used to take out the throwing knife and keep the right stick for melee. They would just have to make it a click function and the character animations like "dance" and "point" would be hold button function #problemsolved #feedback

Whatever's I love it I've been getting headshots all day and night! (With my throwing knife)
-
Honestly if your in the middle of a fight it shouldn't bother you to have something get wasted like your knife, it recharges fairly quick, especially if you increase your stat for quicker regen. All I'm saying is if your getting shot at your only thought after the knife gets thrown and wasted should be"with what I have left, how will I kill these things" and take them out.
-
The issue I have is that I think the throwing knife does more damage than a regular knifey melee, and yet I find myself in situations where melee is more likely to happen, than throwing the knife at the target (ensures a hit, etc). So I'd almost think that the throwing knife (and its higher damage), should be granted to regular melee strikes as well. Then again, this could also be a play style issue too.
-
I usually don't have that problem.
-
5 RepliesI agree. I hate accidentally using my throwing knife.
-
The throwing knife isn't it's own thing though. It is your melee ability, much like the warlock's energy drain. You probably won't even have a throwing knife for all of your subclasses. The throwing knife situation is more a result of a system than it's own problem and it probably takes a lot of resources just to make an exception.
-
7 RepliesI think if you had to hold the melee button for a split second for the knife would be better. I agree tho, too many times have I tried to melee just to throw my knife instead.
-
You have to be point blank to knife. If there is any distance between you and your foe you throw it.
