My original xbox disk tray won't open
What do I do? I can't send it in because it's modded.

Actually, with the nameplate off, pushing on the tray when it is attempting to open easily pops it out. I don't think I will put it back on.

The problem is actually getting a replacement.

I repeatedly push the eject button on mine until it opens. Sometimes hitting the top of it works, too.

There is a little hole below the tray. Get a paper clip or something and stick it in the hole(stop thinking nasty) and the disk will open.

Attempt to pry open the tray with a screwdriver or chisel. That's the method I usually employ when the disc tray is stuck for any console. Don't try to pry out the disc tray entirely, however. Just pry out enough of the disc tray so that you can grab onto it and pull out the disc tray by hand. Make sure the console is turned off when you do this. [Edited on 12.23.2010 8:59 PM PST]

The rubber is probably worn. Mine refuses to open sometimes too. Just give it a good smack imediately after you press the eject button.

Mine does that. I used to pry on it with forks and stuff, but if you push it in when it tries to pop out, it should open. Assuming we have the same malfunction.
