It’s hard going back to regular Control after playing Momentum Control. The TTK feels bad, the play style is so different with everyone bum rushing with Erentil or DRB/Mindbenders. You had to be careful crossing open lanes and spaces even without radar. Nice thing is to that anything is viable, there’s no real meta. I miss it already, I’d love for that playlist to become permanent.

3 RepliesLol not any weapon is viable. In fact unless your gun one shots your at a super disadvantage

3 RepliesEdited by Cinderchar: 1/15/2020 12:48:28 PMDude, you can shoot someone in the foot once and they die in momentum control. It’s just made for questing. It’s in no way indicative of what a PvP mode should feel like on the regular. In fact, the reason you like it so much is because it’s not regular.
-
7 RepliesThat’s because momentum is super easy lol. It’s nice that any weapon is more viable but it’s also just way to easy.
-
2 RepliesThe momentum control meta is a 150rpm scout, kepris sting, way of wraith hunter, crouch walking around the map with wallhacks and invisibility for the whole match.

3 RepliesEdited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 1/15/2020 10:23:05 AMPersonally I really dislike momentum. Thanks to realistically everything 1-shotting to the head the meta becomes picking the furthest 1-tapping primary with the most stability and playing far-away corners like everybody had snipers with unlimited ammo. Takes me back to Icebreaker days. This pairs extremely bad with Destiny's small, simple map design and jupiter sized hitboxes that make hitting shots very easy when you compare to other FPS games. There are better alternatives for FPS games with actual realism. Destiny's whole weapon system for pvp was designed so that the OHK weapons are specials and heavies that (should) have limited ammo. Special ammo economy needing a tuning down is another discussion. Of course momentum as a rotating side playlist is fine. Being able to go there for easier weapon quest completions is great. I just really don't want to see it as a staple in any form (bloating playlist options always harms queue times) and the bounties for it I just skip entirely.

Why I love momentum control: It just makes me fell like Solid Snake. I love the no radar and the one punch melees. But that’s all.

1 Replyfor me is a no no mode, why play cod on destiny?
-
I love momentum. You have such a larger pool of effective weapons to choose from in this mode. This is about as close to a level playing field as you can get in this game, and have it still be fun.
-
Momentum clash would be better than both.
-
I think the removal of radar is a huge playstyle change for the game. Everything else could stay the same, but remove the radar and you get rid if alot of those erentil/shotgun issues

It has a fun factor that most playlists are lacking right now. Before I continue, this is not a SBMM conversation. I happen to be for it. However, it is nice to have somewhere you can go to mess around with new and old weapons that might be a detriment in other playlists. I think stats should be removed, and it should get it’s own set of metals like IB. Other than that put it, along with Mayhem and other light hearted game modes, under there own icon. I wouldn’t be opposed to having at least one of those game modes around all the time. The only other possible down side I can think of, is shrinking the match making pool for other activities.

1 ReplyMomentum Control playlist a.k.a. "Finally making progress on those fronking hair-pulling, good-vibe-killing, getting-killed-by-the-meta-every-second, takes-an-eternity-if-you're-not-a-Crucible-god PvP quests" playlist It is the only reason I have as many linear fusion kills with Arbalest as I do, and the only reason I finally got all my scout rifle kills for Randy's. There's still the matter of getting Glory through Comp, but that's a whole other kettle of fish. 🙄

I dabble in PvP - generally I'm crap but thats ok....I don't spend too much time in the crucible. However when Momentum Control is on, I absolutely love it. The variety in guns being used is brilliant - there are hardly any toasters/ Erentiel, LoW...etc etc... ( albeit the caveat is that it when its being used for pinnancle/ ritual weapons) then maybe best to avoid for a few days). 100% agree it should replace traditional control.

1 ReplyCurious to see how Momentum Survival might be like. Would probably not feel different.
-
hard co-sign. momentum control is the best mode since rift (no one @ me, rift was awesome and you know it, it was just before its time)
-
they both suck

2 RepliesOnly main concern I have with Momentum Control is how buggy it is. I've dealt half my melee damage, some perks don't proc and I've even run across Immune players.
-
2 Replies"Any weapon is viable" Let me introduce you to Trace Rifles.

The thing I liked best about it was that it encouraged you to try different weapons that you normally wouldn't use. I used everything from Sweet Business to that bow we got from Shaxx...oh what was it called again?

I bumped into it mostly by accident, but I like it for a change. I always liked gunplay better than abilities/supers anyway.
