What is the best barrel option for shotguns in Crucible?
This is a question for the all the shotgun warriors still alive and kicking in D2 and doing what they do best.
What is the best barrel option for shotguns?
Feel free to comment on your favorite shotguns of D2. (Maybe that will be my next poll)

Currently, it's all about rate of fire. No heads above the rest range standouts like the old days unless you're a slug shotty headshot master. Opinions vary, but I love my Retrofuturist one double down at a time. At 100 rpm, smooth handling, and MW for reload speed, it's reminiscent of the D1 Invective days....the shotgun I learned to shotgun on and later left behind as I progressed. P.S. Retro perk tree is smoothbore, assault mag.

People still think smoothbore is best? I get that it maximizes range, but pellet spread with that barrel widens too much to even land all pellets at maximum damage range. You should Try Gunnora’s Axe. That’s if you played IB last week. It’s a Suros shotty with a precision frame (optimized for precision kills). Highest base range in its archetype and the perks are just filthy. Just run: Rifled barrel (great increase range) Accurized rounds (even more range) Opening Shot ( EVEN MORE RANGE and increased accuracy) The only flaws with this shotgun is its archetype. You need to aim for the head, and the rate of fire isn’t too good. You can put on Assault Mag instead of Accurized rounds of its too slow for you. Other than that, you can map people with this. It’s Felwinters Lie and Chaperone mashed together.

3 RepliesEdited by Black Magic: 2/7/2018 10:49:44 PMIt really depends. If I’m running crucible I go for a shotty that’s going to increase my range without affecting spread of the pellets. I’d use: Rifled barrel Full choke Polygonal rifling (idk) Full choke is going to make the pellet spread much tighter, similar to shot package from Year 1 Destiny, but this is a little more balanced.
