And to quote the article
It's yet another example of video game console warfare having a negative effect on the people who actually play games. Forum soldiers and fanboys might enjoy this sort of exclusivity nonsense, and it might help Sony's bottom line, but for Xbox owners who have been playing and enjoying Destiny, this is really shitty.
EDIT 3: Many of you are missing the point. This is about how unfair the whole timed exclusivity thing is to consumers(us). Timed exclusivity deals of a year or longer will become commonplace on either side. This is something that should never happen as timed exclusive deals are just greedy money grabs that we let take place. (and before you say I benefited from the CoD maps: I don't play that trash so I never benefitted from it at all ). Please understand this isn't about what is fair to XB users or PS users. Its about what is fair to us all. And having timed exlcusives for the same game for over a year for either PS or XB is not fair or okay at all.
ORIGINAL POST: Ok, let it be known that I am okay with exclusive content so long as it isn't a substantial piece of content (like strikes and stuff).
When I purchased Destiny, I knew that there were going to be exclusives for the Sony consumers. Two guns and a strike that Microsoft consumers were supposedly going to receive later on. I was okay with that. Then I read where Sony consumers will get two more exotics and one more strike that Microsoft consumers won't get for another year.
Really?
Bungie is really going to hide even more content for people that pay the same amount for this broken game? How is that fair? I mean, yeah, give them a couple months with it before we can touch it but a whole -blam!-ing year? You have to be shitting me.
How does it make you Microsoft consumers feel knowing that there is content on your disc that PS3 and 4 people can play but you won't be able to access for another year? I personally am kind of pissed.
EDIT: I understand that Sony paid to have them. I get how this business model works. But to have this timed content be for a year or longer is god damned ridiculous. Remember CoD maps being Xbox exclusive? Yeah, that was for a month maybe two. That content will be obsolete by the time I actually get to play it.
EDIT 2: To all the "Now you know what its like. Have a taste of your own medicine. Karma, man" dudebros: This isn't a damned console war topic. Its more of a "This is going to become commonplace to have content be hidden for a year or longer due to exclusivity deals" kind of topic. Know your lane and stay in it.

Here's the reality Nobody can do anything to stop this Younger gamers lack the funds or intellectual ability to form any kind of action against these practices With older gamers, life gets in the way and people would laugh at the thought of a grown adult taking a gaming company to court As long as there are people with more money than sense, publishers and developers will continue to crank out games and cut content if they wish too. There's not really anything you can do about it My guess is, sometime in the future, games will only be available to the most wealthy as a luxury item.

Изменено (TehRektuming): 10/30/2014 1:44:59 AMRemember when all the other MMO or even some RPGS like games releasing full free content that's more than what Destinys DLC offers? And those were just considered "updates" for crying out loud. What has this industry become...

So I payed 35$$ for only a part of two DLCs? Bungie what the -blam!- are you smoking!? You alienated half of your own consumers! They're your -blam!-ing paychecks for Christ's sake!

This topic has proved to be quite informative. In a word, consumers get the shaft because they like the shaft.
I don't like the shaft.
5 отв.Like EA did with titanfall I think this shit is funny. These bitches cry over DLC, and PS4 did not get Titanfall at all, even though it was made by a 3rd party company and publisher, just like destiny keep crying bitches

8 отв.Want to know a funny story? Xbox Sells WAY more copies of Destiny than PS. Funny how it works when they are -blam!-ing the people they get more money from.
-
Yeah Bungie -blam!-ed us Xbox players, and they didn't even use a condom

1 ответIf the whole DLC was a timed exclusive this would NOT be a problem as that's the way it is with all the CoD's xbox gets timed before PS. The PROBLEM is we are paying the same price at the same time for the same DLC and we can't play part of it for a year despite "owning" it.
-
Content exclusivity on multiplatform games is always a bad idea unless it's for technical reasons. I have the ps4 version and I don't find it fair that they should pay the same amount. Making the strike separate and free to PS+ subscribers would have been the more diplomatic route. Even if the exclusivity sells consoles a great many of those buying will likely have a sour taste in their mouth.

5 отв.I've been a PS fanboy since PS1 but even I can get behind this. Although a small small part of me does feel satisfied just because of the number of douchebags on forums that would always just shove all the great Xbox exclusive shit into my face because #xboxmasterrace. I really do feel satisfaction in those people getting a taste. But that's just me being snarky and selfish. As a business practice it's super shitty. Who the -blam!- is gonna wanna go back and play a year old strike in 2015? One thing I do dig about timed exclusives is that it removes that garbage excuse for a strike "the dust palace" from the weekly rotation. -blam!-ing hate that strike.

3 отв.There is hardly a market where the consumer does not get the shaft.

I'm a PS4 owner but also think timed 3rd party exclusivity is a lose lose for everyone. I don't want the company I give my dollars to to spend it on depriving others of content they would have had but for the exclusivity contract. 3rd party exclusives don't create any new content, it only prevents others from playing something. Much rather companies spend their gaming division budgets on new content or in the case of my PS4, more significant OS updates with more features and more PSN servers. It's just money that could be better used elsewhere. Only publishers win while all gamers lose. I don't enjoy my games more knowing others can't play them.
-
1 ответNo offence but we all (most of us) went through this a couple months back before the games release. And while it's sucks for us X1 players it's merely down to MS not handing out enough cash for exclusivity and why would they? It's a shooting MMOish game made by bungie the very company that created the franchise in which MS owns HALO last I checked that's still xbox exclusive. So unless I missed something It's 1 strike VS the halo franchise....yeah I think I'll stick with halo the strike will come out for us in a year Halo will always be Xbox exclude.
-
11 отв.What's that? Xbox "elitists" finally made humble, are now crying because their self entitlement finally won't get them anywhere? QQ I can't even count the exclusives I've missed out on. (not timed exclusives mind you) so how does the shoe feel on the other foot?
-
At first I wanted to try and explain why being divided as consumers is hurting us. Paying more for less, hype bubbles, and etc. But -blam!- it. Y'all deserved every bit of the -blam!- over you get. This rabid fanboy behavior is abhorrent.

2 отв.To your EDIT 3 can you please then change the topic of this thread from "Microsoft consumers getting the shaft" to just "Consumers getting the shaft" ?

Fair and not fair is really not relevant. Deals were made and they are what they are. If I was an XBOX user, I would have questioned even buying the game more and I seriously doubt that I would buy the DLC. It's already light in my opinion on the PS side and I sure wouldn't buy it thinking that my interests wouldn't be elsewhere a year from now. As a consumer you really can't do anything about the deals that are cut except decide where you want to spend your money. If you don't see enough value in the Destiny DLC then spend your money elsewhere. You have no obligation to Activision or Bungie. They decided what they think is best for them and you need to decide what you think is best for you. The world won't end if you find a new favorite title or if you decide that Destiny is the one for you despite its flaws.

Изменено (DesPaws): 10/29/2014 7:35:01 PMYes, as many posters are pointing out, exclusive content and timed exclusives are "a thing" and been happening for a while. And yes xbox has had it's share of exclusives that Sony did not get. However, what concerns me is that when I purchased my $100 Destiny digital bundle that included the season pass, the DLC exclusive was not stated. I knew about the release game PS exclusive, and I purchased the xbox one version knowing that, I can't (and won't) complain about that. Exclusive content in a DLC, where you've already been sold access to the DLC without making it clear about exclusives in the DCL, to me is shady. Again, I purchased the main game knowing full well about the exclusives - that's fine and happens all the time on both consoles. But with the already extremely low content in this game, screwing me out of a strike mission for a year on DLC I pre-purchased - that leaves a very bad taste. And yes, I know "buyer beware", and I'm sure I somehow deserve this for CoD xbox exclusives I never bought, etc. Just saying the way this is going down is making me less and less likely to buy into any future DLC past the season pass, or Destiny 2 or whatever it ends up being called. And this from a huge Bungie fan who has been buying and playing their games since "Pathways into Darkness".
