Изменено (coolmike699): 4/6/2014 2:26:35 AMMan, it's 2014. We have technology that let's people communicate with their minds, we have space launches, we have 3D printers, we have ever-evolving smartphones... Sorry, sometimes I have to remind myself how far we've come after seeing such backwardness and close mindedness. I think that it's pretty well established that there are more than two genders, and it's really not that hard to grasp.

Изменено (Recon Number 54): 4/5/2014 5:22:20 PMI've come to accept that socially and individually, gender terms and labels have transitioned from commonly being seen as a nearly binary selection into what many now consider to be a wide and diverse spectrum where (at the discretion of the individual) a person can pick a point on, or even a section of, the spectrum. Points that can vary as the individual changes and grows. If I make an incorrect assumption as to how or where a person has personally defined their gender at a particular point in their life? I accept my mistake as being based out of ignorance (it's not self-apparent and we don't wear name badges with the information), and if the individual has decided that my error is worth correcting or that I need to know how they define their gender, I let them tell me and move on with our interactions. The main difficulty I have found is that language is slow to adapt to rapidly changing social terms and as a result, many pronouns reflect the previous binary understanding of gender. That's not my error, that is the reality of language. But if someone has a preferred term and they want me to use it? Fine by me, just tell me what it is and I will do my best to use it in order to make someone feel more comfortable conversing with me. When I think about it though, I really don't see it as a "deal breaker" when it comes to interacting with friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, and even strangers, to me, gender is as personal (and as important to the person) as other things that they may (or may not) place importance on. Cultural heritage, racial heritage, political philosophy, religious beliefs, sexuality, and so on. If it is important to them that they are known and identified by such an aspect of their life, then it doesn't harm or bother me to know and interact with that/those factors "on the table". If they choose to keep such personal and individual aspects of their life to themselves? I can "go with that" too.

There are two. Just because people believe they are something else doesn't mean they are. Someone believing they are a unicorn does not make them a unicorn.

1 ответI don't understand this. How is there 6?

Gender? More than two, definitely. Sex? That is someone's biological specification, and if I remember correctly, you can only be a biological male or female. Unless you change your parts, which by all means, go for it.
-
I recognize 2, but of someone is serious and says they are something other than the 2 and can explain with decent enough reasoning, ill go with it as it pertains to that person

I can honestly say that I don't care for labels. All this masculinity, femininity bullshit is just ridiculous to me.

Honestly, I really don't care. I'll call someone what they want me to call them, but I'm not going to spend time and figure out all the different types and meanings.

Изменено (Uncle Putin): 4/6/2014 2:29:36 AMTwo. There are only two genders you can identify as. I mean, if I identify myself as a biweekly male (and being female every other week), doesn't change the fact that I am still the same person. There are only two and anyone who says otherwise are completely backwards in their thinking. Call me ignorant, call me close minded. I honestly do not care if you identify yourself as a different sex or as a rubber ducky, but it doesn't mean I will take you seriously.
