Is there a reason? NO!
You just stuck them in there for shiggles and we all hate them.
At least whisper had a reason for its timer on legendary along with a few other missions.
The timer should ALWAYS be an optional modifier. Especially if it is going to erase all revives at zero.
Either remove or make optional the timers. They suck as much as your insane portal idea has.
REMOVE THE PORTAL!!!!

Honestly yeah, the portal is the worst because it’s been getting nerfs and ridiculously causing players to be burnout easily. The old pinnacle system was just better than the portal before edge of fate because it was less exhausting and less severely punishing. -
Timers only bug me when the content isn't designed around it.
-
87 отв.I don't hate them, and I suspect others don't as well. To answer your question though, there's ALWAYS a reason for timers: We're all living on one.
-
The bad guys arent going to wait on you to come and kill them and stop their nefarious plans A time limit usually indicates a fluid ever developing situation that needs quick decisive action to control There is very much a thematic reason for time limits in game
-
They're a good reason for never touching Pinnacles, at least for me - and they were something I ran a lot before they added the timers. I'm not even a fan of timers for unlocking weapons. Just look at Zero Hour, it's basically impossible to do it on time unless you circumvent the path by launching yourself with a GL and/or running strand (Mactics barely beat it on time in his solo guide and being on a fireteam doesnt help with the timer since killing the enemies fast isnt the issue).

2 отв.I haven't played for months. I didn't buy EoF. I'm now a mediocre player, downgraded from barely adequate. Therefore, I'd rather play on my own rather than piss others off. I'd rather plod along and just shoot stuff up, and kill -blam!-. Timed play was part of the reason I stopped playing. I've read there are some still timed missions in Renegades So. Do I buy this release for 60 bucks Oz? I'd appreciate some genuine answers. And to cut the "Get Gudders" off at the pass! NO.

REMOVE THE PORTAL!!!!
The timer is there in most portal activities to use it if you want to add more score or to ignore it and go at your own pace. What was the reason whisper had a timer on legendary? The timers are optional. You can set it so you get kicked if you don't finish or you can set it so you can go over the allotted time.

11 отв.I'm in the TIMERS suck category. For many of the missions I can and have beat the timer. BUT I won't run anything with a timer if its not for a weapon upgrade I actually want - which includes most every weapon other than the praxic blade and wait still have not got that done yet either. I PLAY FOR STRESS RELEASE NOT THE CREATION OF IT!!!! That's the streamers job. Set it up so only they get stuck with this bscrap as they are the ones that keep pushing for more stupid bscrap.

I miss the old strike playlist...I would build around the weekly mods and try to speed run the play list and see how low I could get my times FOR FUN and only after I got my weekly stuff done but now... The mods don't make sense and the built-in timers are stressful I can't run a level slow to learn the level or play around with builds many levels can't even be played outside of the play list and riddled with mods or timers and tokens a vinila playlist and would be amazing and the ability to raise the difficulty without the mods or timers and tokens and... This goes for all activities I'm so burnt out on the gimmick RNG hellscape of the game has become... there's zero consistency...I want to loot and shoot not play twister blindfolded in a Velcro skin suit on the side of the bay bridge in winter during rush hour with spider man and a chess clock...

1 ответИзменено (BansheeTwin350): 1/7/2026 9:12:41 PMRemoving timers would be the single greatest improvement that can happen to destiny. I called it out at the beginning of EOF saying how it would destroy the gameplay and fun. Now players are so used to speedrunning everything at lower difficulty, thinking that's the norm, that you can't even FTF a GM because everyone just runs in full throttle and dies. Edit: And if you also take into account that Bungie has no clue on how to set the timer length properly for each activity, it just more evident that they need to go.

Изменено (cryptic_king_241): 1/8/2026 4:06:45 PMFor those that are bringing up the improperly set timers for certain activities, think about the difference between these two things: 1. Get it ready for the Portal. 2. Get it ready (compatible) for the Portal (a.k.a. Get it back into public circulation asap). From the consumer perspective, getting it ready for the Portal meant timers and reward conditions were adjusted appropriately. From the developer perspective, getting it ready for the Portal meant updating the program / activity to the current game build with appropriate scoring conditions in place for the lowest difficulty available so it could be opened and run to completion REGARDLESS OF ELAPSED TIME on the consumer side.

Изменено (TonnoSenpai): 1/8/2026 7:32:49 AMis for adding challange, unlocking all the perks in a gun should require a little of challange, the timers add that little challange and ask the players to not bot walk all the time, w agenda kids will never know what a challange is this days And if you want a thematic reason, the simple reason is that when the timer ends the enemy winds and the guardian lose
-
Thematic. Oh lord.

8 отв.
What thematic reason is there for Timers?
Missions/Jobs have time constraints. For example, if you were breaking into a facility to liberate some goods, you have to deal with alarm resets, police response times, guard rotations. Same can be said for assassination missions, you have X amount of time to reach and elminate the target before the target is no longer available or enemy response renders the mission a fail. There are plenty of reasons time limits would exist on missions, whether you find them fun or not is a different story.
PS The portal is fine and even if you dont like it, its not going away anytime soon. It was too big of an expense to unwind and basically undo 90 percent of the changes they made with the year of prophecy launch.
Remove timers and revive tokens!
-
Please. Nothing Bungie does in this game follows any logical pattern. Why are there activities on planets that we can't freely go to? Why are dead characters still talking to us about plot points that are no longer relevant?
-
I like it in a way, but overall I hate timers. In concept they are cool, but in destiny where content can go from 0 to 100 o don’t really like timers.
-
Portal, taken on it's own, is a good addition to the game. Adjustable missions, targeted loot, solo players can have their lonely cake, etc. People attribute changes brought with EoF to Portal and it's not exactly the case. However making portal the entire gameplay focus was the biggest mistake I have seen in Destiny since launch. Game: noun - "a form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck." Timers have existed in games since the dawn of gaming. What is it exactly you want out of your video GAME? You want it to be just a power fantasy where no skill, strength, or even luck is involved, just you larping as a deity? Sounds like what you truly want is to cheat. I am aware many of these portal missions are not properly scaled and adjusted and the timers in particular cases are crazy. I also do not care that the bottom 1% of players are going to downvote me. Bungie has catered this game to YOU and you're still screaming. Raids, dead. Dungeons, dead. Trials, dead. All for you, the peanut gallery. This is the way Destiny ends I guess, covered in peanuts.
-
Timers are there to make it more challenging, obviously
-
It's there for added excitement! Adverse side effects include: tediousness, stress, and loss of enjoyment 😄 That's right Bungie, throw so many things at me all at once, so that none of them end up registering a memorable, positive, unique, or a substantial experience of any kind :p You die for me with Destiny, it ends there
-
If you mean the bonus timer its not worth stressing over in the portal outside of conquests.
