If I am not mistaken, this week is in contention for the lowest population ever. Trials is an absolute nightmare to play. It’s bad when playing Comp is a more enjoyable play experience. I blame the new system. While Bungie did not have the intention to drive people out of the playlist, that’s exactly what has happened. The way the flawless system is set up now deters players from playing once they’ve gone flawless. It forces people into a “flawless” playlist where sweat teams are essentially the only ones left. Thus, lesser skilled players leave and don’t spend time in the playlist. Clearly, this has been having a proven negative effect on the playlist. Yes, it was nice when it was first put in. A lot of people were happy, but only the higher skilled players told everyone this was a bad idea and it was going to kill the playlist. Now, at an all time low, looks like they were right. I don’t understand what’s so hard about reverting back to the original settings of week 1 of trials after the Witch Queen dlc was released. Those were by far the best numbers across the board this game has ever seen. And I know this week some people are playing the alpha of Concord 2.0. But let’s be real, that game is failing and people don’t have interest in it. Destiny 2 has more viewers, by a noticeable margin, compared to Concord 2.0. So as much as I would like to use this as an excuse, I just don’t think it justifies a 25% drop in numbers. Bungie, you guys need to figure out this trials playlist. Whether you want to admit it or not, trials is what keeps your PvP side of the game afloat. Not to mention when you have lulls in content, trials keeps your game afloat. Get back to having the sense of accomplishment for going flawless. Get rid of the free handouts, it clear your community is telling you it doesn’t work. I would love to offer solutions, but there would be too many people who have no idea what is good for the playlist chiming in with I’ll-informed and ignorant comments.
